ABOUT THE REUNION

Our Annual Reunion Dog Show is going to be held on Saturday 18 September 2010 at Bury View Farm & Camping Site, Corston Fields, Nr Bath BA2 9HD so please put this important date in your diary. This year the Reunion will be more of an “IRR Family and Friends” gathering. There will be fewer classes which we hope will give everyone more time to meet up with old friends, spend time with their dogs, enter the classes and generally enjoy the day.

VOLUNTEERS AND STALL HOLDERS

If there are any VOLUNTEERS to help run stalls and man the gate etc, we would be grateful for all the help we can get. The more people we have to share the workload, the more time everyone has off to enjoy the day. Contact GIZMO to offer your services asap pleeeeeese. If anyone would like to run their own stall, again, please contact GIZMO asap.

WORKING TOGETHER SCHEDULE

10.00am RING 3: Working together classes commence Ring 3.

The judges are doing more than one class so please be sure to tell them which class you are entered in so that you will be given the correct round of obedience to perform. Judging goes on until 12.00 noon.

The three classes are for IRR dogs and bitches and their housemates / friends only. In classes 1, 2 & 3 motivation using toys will be quite acceptable. We want to see loads of happy waggy tails please.

There will be a special prize in each class for the HAPPIEST WORKER in memory of BARNEY JEFFEREY and in class 1 there will be a DARCY MEMORIAL PRIZE for the least obedient but still lovable IRR Golden Retriever.

Judges for the Working Together Classes: ALISON GARFORTH AND SARAH COOKE (www.waggytailsdtc.co.uk).

    1. NEWBIES ON THE BLOCK

For IRR dogs (and bitches) and their friends who have never won a prize in any obedience competition.

Heelwork on lead 40 points
Recall on lead (no sit or finish) 30 points
30 sec sit or down stay done on lead 30 points

IN MEMORY OF DARCY

In addition to donating the 1st Prize bags, Best In Show and Obedience (IRR) prizes Lorraine is going to donate a further prize. This one is in memory of her beloved Darcy.

The prize will go to the most useless dog in obedience!!! She says, "To my knowledge my boy is the only one in history that managed to be disqualified!!!! but his stay was brilliant, 15 mins instead of one minute, before sauntering out of the ring and back to the tent. God I loved that boy :)"

"The main idea of the prize is to help to confirm the fact that the competition is only meant to be fun and even the most perfect dog (which Darcy was!) doesn't have to be good at everything."

Lorraine is hoping that this will encourage loads more people to enter and have a go so please don't let her and Darcy down.

2. TROTTING ALONGERS

For IRR dogs (and bitches) and their friends who have never won a prize for obedience at an Open or Championship Show. Any prizes won at the IRR Reunions don’t count.

Heel on lead 40 points

All of us at at IRR would like to say a huge "thank you" to all of the above sponsors. The money we have saved on the rosettes alone will pay for us to transport even more deserving dogs over from Ireland .

Thankyou so much for your ongoing support of all we are trying to do.

PARADE OF RESCUES

As in previous years, there will be a Parade of Rescue Dogs but, as we now have 6 years of happy dogs to take part, we will be having 6 short parades, to follow immediately after one another, so dogs aren't waiting around too long, with a group photo of each year.

This will commence at 12.30pm and will be followed immediately by a Parade of our Sponsor Dogs so please try to be sure to be at the show in good time to take part.

Someone in the PA/Prizes tent, on the far side of the main ring, will take your name / dog's name and his /her year of adoption on the day so please could you be sure to register as soon as you can so we don't leave anybody out.

FUN and GAMES

FUN and GAMES ......... Dogs can have as many tries as they like at things like TEMPTATION ALLEY, WATER BOBBING, SIT IN THE HOOP and FIND AN 'X' all for just 50p a go.

HAVE A GO AGILITY

HAVE A GO AGILITY will be going on in RING 2 in short sessions during the day.

It will be £1.00 a go but this includes having a dummy run in the small practice area on the side before going into the main agility ring.

N.B. For safety reasons, AGILITY will be under the very strict supervision of our experienced trainers only. Children are very welcome to have a go with their dogs at AGILITY and FUN & GAMES but only with their parents present and only if the dogs are used to being handled by them so that both child and dog will be safe.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS

There will also be several places to spend your pennies (or, hopefully pounds) including IRR products, cards and calendars, guess the name of the elephant, Serenity crystals & gift stall, Gillys Gems, various holistic therapies and a CHC stall, a bottle stall, a pet shop stand, White Elephant stall, book and CD stall, raffles and tombola and you can also meet and, hopefully sponsor, some of our very own IRR Sponsor Dogs.

MICROCHIPPING

As we believe it is very important to keep our dogs safe in all situations and with dog theft being on the increase everywhere, we will again be offering a micro-chipping service at the 2010 Reunion. This will be open to all dogs not just IRR ones. Dogs will be able to just turn up on the day but, if you would like to book in advance, then please email Jane as she will be in charge of chipping the dogs.

The service will be available all day. The cost of micro-chipping will be £10 a dog and £15 if you have two dogs. The normal charge appears to be £25+ per dog so this is quite a good saving and it could save a life in the future. Unfortunately, although we would like to, we are unable to offer the service any cheaper because we have to cover the cost of the guns and scanner aswell as the chips themselves.

Also Avid suggest that existing chips should be checked to see that they are still in place and readable so, for £1, Jane and our other qualified microchippers will be happy to do this for you too. Better to be safe than sorry.

OUR KIND SPONSORS

All at Irish Retriever Rescue would like to thank all the companies and very kind people who have been very generous to us.

If you have a long way to come, please try to leave plenty of time for your journey so that you can enjoy the whole day of events. It would be a real shame to miss out on any of it. You can arrive as early as you like as most of us will be up and about by 6am. You are also very welcome to stay overnight, of course, or make a weekend or even a week of it. There is plenty to see and do in and around the lovely city of Bath.
