BEN was an unclaimed stray. This lovely, kind, gentle, older dog has completely restored the faith of a lady who had been badly savaged by a dog and he is has become her very devoted companion. Ben is now becoming a lovely older dog not dis-similar to Danny Jefferey in looks or temperament. Nobody could understand how or why he ended up in rescue and we wondered if he may have been the pet of an elderly person who had died or was taken into hospital. Ben has a truly wonderful temperament and quickly totally restored Pauline’s confidence in the breed. Pauline had owned Goldens all her life but she had been so badly savaged by a Golden Retriever within days of taking him on from another Rescue organisation who, unlike us, didn't assess the dogs in foster homes before re-homing. The attack was so bad that she had needed to spend several weeks in hospital. Pauline realised this was a total one off and refused to blame the poor dog who had been immediately put to sleep. She heard of IRR through a friend and trusted us to find her the gentlest, totally typical Golden Retriever boy that we could and along came Ben. They live in an idyllic village in the Somerset countryside and from day one Ben was extremely popular with everyone who met him.
