DANNY was a stray who, unbelievably, was never claimed. This gentle, loving boy won the hearts of everyone and he stayed forever with his fosterer, Pauline, and his new brothers Barney, Ricky & Eddie (and GSD Freddie) in Somerset. UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2010 Danny is now about 12yrs old. He is a wonderful dog who was very, very sad when he first arrived but he has been absolutely brilliant over the years with all the foster dogs that have passed through his home as he understands doggy body language so well and he is always there to help the more nervous ones to settle . He has always been the first dog to be introduce to any newbies when they arrive, often terrified, in the UK Nobody could ever understand how this lovely, gentle, well bred Golden Retriever could become a stray who ended up in the pound but was never claimed. We concluded that, as he was clearly once well loved and knew many commands when he arrived, his owner (possibly elderly) may have died and the other family members simply did not want him so turfed him out on the streets. Sadly, this is a very common story.
