![]() DONA
Dona is a 2-yr-old small sized, fairly long-haired lady. She is very playful and great with dogs, cats and people. Like Nadia and Peppy, Dona is being rehomed through Romanian Animal Aid and will be arriving in the UK early next month.
She has been vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and fully health checked before travelling. UPDATE 3RD AUG 09 Dona has now arrived in the UK and is currently in foster in Somerset with 4 other dogs and a cat. Although timid initially, just one day on she has already settled and is doing extremely well. She has double dew-claws on both hind legs which are going to be removed this week for her safety. ![]() ![]()
UPDATE 10.8.09 Her fosterer says. "Dona has settled in with our dogs really well, she is not pushy with them at all. She is quite enthusiastic when she sees our cat and tends to bark at it – not sure if she has never seen one before or whether she has evil intent! She is very bouncy and enthusiastic and is so playful. She is quite small (Sheltie size). She eats well, walks well on the lead and is very gentle. She settled herself down to sleep under the desk in our studio and was so quiet I shut her in by mistake – she didn’t make a noise, just stayed quietly. She is good at being left and at night. Altogether a delightful, fun, very pretty little girl."
UPDATE SEPTEMBER 09 Dona has now gone to her forever home in Dorset and has been renamed Gypsy. They all agree that Gypsy's there to stay and was part of the family from the moment Belinda and Terry took her there.
Donna said to Belinda and Terry "Many thanks to you and the rescue for your help in finding and adopting Gypsy, and I'm sure she's very grateful for your kindness in fostering her for a month after her long journey, although her gratitude is expressed in tail-wags instead of words!" UPDATE ON GYPSY Donna says "Gypsy's settled in brilliantly well, met a lot of chums, both canine and human. We were all astonished at how quickly she caught on with her training; after the first day of initial confusion upon receiving commands she soon started to learn, and now responds immediately to orders. She's been happily walking off the lead for a couple of weeks now."
To all ye at Irish Retriever Rescue, Gypsy Loveless bids thee a Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
