NEMO
Nemo is about 3 1/2 years old and has just arrived in the UK having travelled from Romania with Doly. Both dogs are currently being fostered in Somerset. FIRST FOSTERER REPORT " Nemo is about the same size as our Millie (small retriever) and is quite nervous. He is very playful and is already trying to persuade Connie to play with him - she hasn't responded so far, but hope she will. He travels extremely well, slept the whole of the journey with us and was no trouble on his previous marathon trip from Romania.
Nemo will need some lead training although he is quite happy wearing a collar. He refused breakfast this morning and has also refused all treats offered to him, but got very excited when Terry got some bread out for our lunch and gobbled down a piece we offered him. We have discovered that he has the bottom half of his right ear missing, it doesn't notice visually as the hair has grown but it definitely has a piece missing. He appears to have a lovely temperament, though I haven't been able to test his cat and child friendliness - will do so at the end of the week. He met the chickens this morning and he just stared at one of them who stared straight back at him!
At the moment he is definitely not an alpha male. He gets on well with our 4 girls. UPDATE 9/03/10 Nemo (who is about the size of a border collie) has really settled into his life here with us, he is good with the cat and takes no notice of the chickens. He loves to go on walks and is very enthusiastic about everything that is going on around him. He travels well in the car and yesterday jumped into the back with no prompting. He asks to go out when he needs to and loves being brushed. He bounces around the house when he is excited.
Nemo is an affectionate little dog who loves to be stroked and have his tummy tickled. He curls up to sleep with our dogs and gets on really well with them. He even copies Millie and barks at the postman and milkman! I am attaching a couple of pictures we took of him when we were walking yesterday. Obviously he hasn't been off lead yet, but he walks quite well on the lead. NEMO IS IN HIS FOREVER HOME Nemo is now happily living with Maddy and Kev in Somerset. He has 2 wonderful new doggy friends, Charlie and Petra http://www.maddycasey.co.uk/aboutme.htm and, apparently, play is the order of the day followed by more and more play.
