CONGRATULATIONS TO CAROLINE AND KENZIE

Kenzie is proud to inform that he successfully passed his Kennel Club Gold award on Saturday 6th September. He said ‘It’s pretty much all in a days work really except on the re-call to heel my Mum didn’t call me to heel after 10 paces, as she thought the judge was going to say when to call me – consequently my Mum continued walking, nearly into the field and I had to do some catching up – these humans!!

Also, on the relaxed isolation I decided to stick my head in the bin but alas, no food could be found – must go now as I have a Pets as Therapy visit to do – I’m such a busy boy!!’ ‘Bye for now’ Well done Kenzie – we are very proud of you.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JULIE AND RICKY

Many congratulations to Ricky who was named Best in Show at the Leonard Stanley Summer Fair. He hopped to victory at the scruffs dog show after seeing off more than 20 other canine contenders.

Here he is with his trophy and proud Mum Julie. Well done Ricky – we are all delighted at your success.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JULIE AND RODDY

At the beginning of April 2008, Julie (one of our fosterers) collected Roddy from the rescue. He had only been away from the breeder just 48 hours and in that time had been castrated, spent a night at the vets, been in kennels and made the journey from South Wales to Sussex. He was 15 months old but had no idea about treats, walks, or anything associated with humans. He was the puppy that no one wanted and was petrified. Julie took him home where he settled into life with her and Layla (a 4 year old Labrador who failed as a sniffer dog) and the three cats. Since moving in he’s had to learn to be clean in the house, not to chase the cats and eat their food, go for walks on a lead, or if let off the lead learn to come back to her and not take himself off for his own walk and most importantly NOT destroy the house when she went out.

The separation anxiety was really bad but Julie worked with Lynne and her local dog trainer and also attended dog training classes with him (even when he was the oldest “puppy” in the puppy class).

The end result just four months later is a very happy, well adjusted (almost!) dog who passed his Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze award earllier this week. Check out the Kennel Club website to see what he had to do.

He will be returning to “school” in October to work on his Silver award. Well done Roddy and a big thank you to Lynne of the Irish Retriever Rescue and everyone who made this possible.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JASMINE AND JOANNE

CONGRATULATIONS TO CAROLINE AND KENZIE

Caroline says, “We are delighted to share that our wonderful Kenzie successfully passed his Kennel Club Silver Award on 14th June. He is going for his Gold soon so fingers crossed! Kenzie has also recently been accepted as a Pets as Therapy dog and has started visiting local Nursing Homes and is enjoying all the fuss from the residents who all think he is gorgeous (but we knew that already!) We are very proud of our boy who continues to delight us!” Well done Kenzie and good luck for the Gold Award.
