Amber

Amber is a two year old female Golden Retriever. She is dark Gold in colour. Amber came through our very good friend, Helen Hewitt. She was a stray picked up in Monaghan Pound. Helen arranged for her pet passport and all the inoculations she needed. She was assessed and it turned out that she didn’t mix well with other dogs.

Amber still had to be spayed as she had just had her season and couldn’t be spayed for three months. As her personality was such, IRR had to be careful about integrating her with other dogs. A sad girl who was boisterous and confused not knowing where she to fit in. So, the slow work of integrating her with other IRR dogs began. Within ten days Amber was happy and much more adjusted to the routine. She would be best suited to a couple who are kind and patient and who have time to show her that love, stability and a set routine which will help her settle. Amber needs another dog, one who won’t bully her but will show her that dogs have pals too, and she doesn’t need to be scared. Little is known about her, but she would suit a quiet retired couple who have experience with Goldens. She is now with a wonderful fosterer until it is time for her to go ‘home’.

She walks well on the lead and her recall is coming along. She travels well in the car. Naturally, with all rescues it is advisable to feed them separately. She isn’t food or toy possessive but it is always wise to guard on the side of caution until she finds her paws.

BRILLIANT NEWS

Amber has finally found her forever home with her fosterer, Liz and her husband, Hugh in Ireland. She has also discovered that life can be good with her new Golden Sister ‘Holly’ running along the beach in the morning. They are like two peas in a pod and love each other dearly. Liz says ‘we still have to teach her that she isn’t allowed put her paws on the table, we couldn’t give her back, we just love her and so does Holly. They really are ‘sisters’. I suppose you could say, Amber has finally come ‘home’.
