Bayley Ayles

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

Sad News, May 2021

Bayley’s dad, Peter, said: “Our dear Bayley (Bailey) passed away recently at a very good age of over 15 years.

She was fit and healthy up to the end but increasingly tired with the advancing years. I put her longevity down to a healthy West Coast Irish upbringing and a loving first mum who cared for her.

She came to us aged 5 from IRR fostering with an A4 letter from her first mum giving us a lovely guide to her character with a particular note that she liked to help in the kitchen.

Gill and Karen her IRR fosters were superb in giving her the home and stability she had lost briefly, their report was so accurate and helpful.

Thank you Gill and Karen, I wonder if you are still fostering 10 years on?

Bailey did pull on the lead as you reported for a while but it gradually stopped. I always wondered if it was the reason she was given up for adoption by her elderly first mum. She never forgot her and initially, any elderly couple we met on a walk she would go up and greet, even sit on their lap if visitingBailey was a beautiful girl, popular with friends, fellow dog walkers, and family.

With an increasing number of grandchildren appearing we never had any concerns with temperament, She was always very much part of the extending family.

Goodbye Bayley, we’ve had so much fun – you’ll never be forgotten.”

History

INITIAL FOSTER REPORT

Bailey was fostered by Gill and Karen who said. “Bailey arrived on Friday 14th January after a long journey. We first met at a Motorway services, she was happy to see us and made herself at home immediately. She jumped into the back of the car and promptly over the back seats!!! (She can be forgiven for that as she had been confined for a while), we will test her again in the car over the next few days; on the journey home she settled and was very good.

We arrived home and introduced her to the boyz…. Then took them for a walk although Bailey does pull initially (more forgiveness as it was all new to her) but she got on well with the boyz and enjoyed the new smells. She is very good in the house and settled well although didn’t want to sleep near the boyz. She thoroughly enjoyed her dinner on Friday evening and there were no problems when it came to feeding time as they all ate in the kitchen then settled well for the night. She doesn’t seem too keen on lying on a bed so we gave her a mat to sleep on though I suspect she spent most of the night on the floor. We have bought her a flash pink collar and a new bed, we will see if she likes this one!!

Saturday started with Bailey having her coat brushed with a stripping comb as its quite thick, she thoroughly enjoyed this and was happy to roll over on to her back, she is a very loving dog and loves to be with you, she watches you for signals and responds to you, as I type this she is lying at my feet totally settled. She has fallen for Ozzie who I have to say does not feel the same but she follows him wherever he goes, there has been no growling or grumbling from any of them and she was even playing with Ozzie this morning, they are both vocal Ozzie even took a toy from her today without any problems.

Bailey will make someone an amazing companion as she has endless love to give.”

BAILEY GOES TO HER NEW HOME 16 MARCH

Bailey has just left to start her new life in her forever home in Hatfield with Peter and family, as you can see from the picture she made him feel very welcome when he arrived to collect her, she will be very happy with lots of walks and a companion collie.

NEW HOME UPDATE 28 MARCH

Peter said. “Bailey is a lovely girl, all the family like her gentle manner and cheerfulness, especially Woody my daughter’s 12 month brown collie. She has settled in very well, particularly likes walks and water during the weekends in Oxfordshire, very social with other dogs and really no vices except perhaps her enthusiasm for diving into fox poo. It’s easier to count the walks that she hasn’t had to be washed off than the walks where she has.

She is already off the lead and comes quickly back to a whistle rather more than her name.

I am conscious that she will take time to settle and relax completely after all the changes in her doggy life, but she is getting lots of love even sometimes squeezing on Sue’s (my wife) lap in the evenings.

Thanks Gill and Karen very much for all your fostering care given to Bailey and your time spent with me, she is a sweet girl (perhaps forgetting the fox poo ruff).”
