Beaven Harrison

Beaven is a 14-18 month old, healthy, happy and playful Golden Retriever X. He has been neutered and microchipped.

Before travelling to the UK, he spent a short time with Sandie who said. “He travels really well in the car and gets on fantastic with other dogs. He’s not a bit ‘in your face’ thank god and seems a really calm boy. He’s enjoyed running around the garden with Freddie all afternoon and hasn’t dirtied in the house.”

FOSTERER’S REPORT

His fosterers, Jo and John, say “He weighs approximately 35-37 kg and is a very strong dog. He has been fostered with us for almost 3 months now, living in our house with our 3 children, 2 other retrievers, 3 cats and 3 rabbits! He gets on extremely well with all of them.

He’s been well socialised with all of the many ‘locals’ on our regular walks, so there are no issues with other dogs either. He loves to ‘play-fight’ with Annie, our 9yr old retriever, and this wears them both out!

He’s excellent on a lead when using a Halti, but pulls a bit on a normal lead until we’ve worn him out a bit. We’ve let him off the lead often in the fields near us and his recall is pretty good (certainly when you have a ‘Clicker’ and a pocket full of treats). He loves water and often ‘cools off’ in the canal while out for his walks. I bath him in our bath and he just stands there in the water and lets you get on with showering him off.

He can be a bit of a ‘food thief’ if any tasty snacks are left within reach when nobody’s around; he especially likes cleaning the cats’ bowls out after they’ve been fed! (He is currently fed on Burn’s Complete dry food). He is housetrained although he has had the occasional ‘accident’.

He is utterly trustworthy with children and is so gentle. He loves to play with our 6yr old daughter who loves him dearly. He likes to play with any toys, but rips the stuffing out of soft toys.

To sum up, Beaven is a really friendly, gentle and happy big dog and would be well suited to any family who can give him the love, stimulation and exercise he needs.”
