Ben O’Donnell

WE WERE ALL SAD TO HEAR THE BAD NEWS (14.5.2015)

In 2015, Ben was now 10yrs and had been a massive part of the family and a best friend to them all  since his adoption early in 2006. Until very recently, he was still very active and could walk forever.

Unfortunately, he had to have a tumour removed from his mouth 9 weeks ago and, though all was well at first, for the past 2 weeks, he had not been eating properly, his gums started bleeding and he had blood in his mouth. Although he appeared not to be suffering they knew it was only a matter of time and they could not stand by and watch that happen.

Andy told Lorraine that he took Ben to the vets on the 14th May. They found the tumour in his mouth had returned and, this time, it was at the back of his tongue and  into his throat.  Due to the speed at which it had returned and the position, the vet advised that operating was not feasible. He said the tumour would continue to grow and restrict Ben’s airways leading to him suffocating so the kindest advice was to give him sleep.

Andy and his wife are understandably devastated.
