Billy

(Was Nanuk)

Age: about 4 months old, not yet neutered

Nanuk is a Goldie X
(Mum was a Golden Retriever but no-one is sure about Dad).

Personality:
He is well and enjoying life. He has been increasing in confidence since arriving in foster. He is a very happy puppy and enjoys playing in the garden and with his toys. This cutie is a great fluffy white ball and it is difficult not to cuddle him all the time, which he laps up too!

Lead walking:
He is good on the lead. He loves going for walks in the fields but hasn’t quite got used to heavy traffic on the roads (he needs some road work to file his sharp claws).

Dogs:
He is always pleased to meet other dogs,

Cats:
He hasn’t seen any cats yet

Other animals:
He shows little interest in sheep in the field backing on to our garden.

Social learning: He has been clean in the house for 2 days.

Nanuk was in foster in Warwickshire

UPDATE FROM HIS FOSTER HOME (JAN 2015)

Nanuk continues to learn quickly and only has to be shown something once to understand, although he has displayed an element of selective puppy deafness!

He still shows a bit of anxiety separation but has coped for about 30 or 40 minutes in the day without worrying unduly; nights are still a wee bit of a challenge – but it is very early days yet.

He is a fabulous, exemplary puppy to have in the house and I am sure he will make the best of friends in his Forever Home. He has given us no reason to believe anything other than he will continue to be well-behaved in a loving home.

Billy has gone to live in his Forever Home

UPDATE ON BILLY 18.6.2015

Nanuk has a nice new name to go with his lovely forever home and now answers (most of the time) to the name of Billy.

Sue has been telling us that Billy has settled in really well and quickly became friends with his big sister Molly. He is growing into a very handsome young man and is much admired wherever Sue and Steve go. Billy is roughly retriever size now but at just nine months he may still have some more growing to do.

Sue says “He’s very mischievous and can be quite naughty when the mood takes him – when you do have to tell him off he’ll flop to the floor with a sigh and grumble to himself. He can remove everything from the coffee table and hide it in the garden in under 30 seconds! He’s also very keen on gardening and has been very busy redesigning the flower beds for us! He has given Molly a new lease of life (she’s nine this year and was getting quite staid) but she has reverted to quite puppy-like behaviour, even assisting Billy in his digging and plant removal (something she hadn’t done for about six years).

Billy is fine being left now as long as we make it obvious we’re leaving the house, he watches us go and then settles down to sleep (we have a ‘doggy cam’ set up to keep an eye on him).

He’s been doing well at dog training and picks things up really quickly although he is, unfortunately, going through a bit of a rebellious stage at the moment and can’t even remember his own name at times. Despite that, we are looking forward to doing some agility classes with him once he’s old enough”.

We all agree Billy is growing into an extremely handsome boy and are sure, once his teenage rebellion has passed, he will be Mr Perfect in every way.
