Bob Beavan

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

Bob passed to Rainbow Bridge on 1st April 2020.

Barbara and John said, “We have had BOB for about 6 years, having adopted him from IRR in 2015, sadly, on April 1st 2020, he suffered a massive stroke, from which there was no recovery.

During the time we had him he was great company for us and our other IRR dog Paddy. He was a lovely boy and we are missing him so much. He is also missed by our neighbours and other dog walkers, who he always greeted with his friendly bark, ‘Bob the gob’ as one of my friends called him.”

UPDATE FROM HIS FOREVER HOME JULY 2015

John tells us that Bob has settled in well, with no problems at all, and, already, he is very attached to Barbara.

Apparently, he still has an over the top wecome for other dogs but, once every one is talking or sniffing, he is fine.

John says “One photo shows Paddy and Bob on the beach, Paddy being thelighter one. In the other, the 4 dogs from front to rear are Zac (from Welsh Retriever Rescue), Bob, Paddy & my daughter’s Whippet/Jack Russell Cross, Felix. All 3 of our dogs (Paddy, Zac and Bob), are all doing well although Zac struggles a bit with his legs now so only does short walks”.

HISTORY

Bob is a stunning, big boned, neutered Golden Retriever who is aged about 5yrs. He is microchipped and has been health checked by a vet and properly groomed as are all the IRR dogs.

He was relinquished by the family because the youngest child (a two year old) kept jumping on him and wouldn’t leave him alone. The owner was afraid one day he would have enough and would snap at the child even though he never exhibited any signs of aggression whatsoever. He got on extremely well with the 5yr old who was much gentler with him.

The family were assured Bob would be well looked after by IRR and would get a really great home.

PERSONALITY

Bob, like most Golden Retrievers, is very affectionate and loveable. Kathryn describes him as a darling boy and an absolute dream.

SOCIAL LEARNING

Travel: He travels well in a car.

Housetraining: Bob is fully housetrained.

Grooming: After hours of grooming, Bob looks like a million dollars. He is an absolute cracker. He is so gorgeous and affectionate. He thinks all his birthdays have come together. He is a joy to be around and is happy as a clam. He danced with happiness, twirling barking even jumping and bunny hopping. Kathryn says “I have never, ever seen a dog so grateful. He knew we were helping and he showed it with the most wonderful dance and barking session I have ever seen. It made me cry”.

Leadwalking: He is strong on the lead so a harness would be recommended.

Recall: His recall is good

Feeding: He is not food possessive

Dogs: He is good with other dogs

Cats: Bob is untested with cats

Children: His memories of small children aren’t good ones but he would be fine with teenagers

BOB’S DREAM HOME

Bob would love to be part of an active family who enjoy walking and will take an interest in him, showing him how great life can be. In return, he will make a great addition to any family.
