Buddy

Buddy is a stunning deep gold 5 year old neutered male Golden Retriever Cross, perhaps with a Golden Cocker Spaniel. He has been groomed and has been given the necessary vaccinations needed to travel.

HISTORY

Irish Retriever Rescue were told initially that Buddy was a pure Golden Retriever but clearly on arrival, we realised that his mum may have been playing both sides of the street. He was extremely thin, so much so that his vertebrae were clearly visible. This was put down to nervousness and lack of structure in his day.

Buddy was relinquished because of a change in family circumstances. He came via another Rescue straight from his family who are emigrating and couldn’t take him with them. They were heartbroken at letting him go.

We assured his family and the Rescue that IRR would fulfil our promise to them and make sure that he had everything he needed and more and his future would be bright and happy.

PERSONALITY
He has a lovely personality and is super affectionate. Unfortunately, Buddy is confused at present so he can grumble and even snap so a very experienced owner is required for him.

SOCIAL LEARNING
He travels well in the car although, initially, he wasn’t too good about it. He is house-trained His recall is good and he is great on the lead. Buddy is wonderful with other dogs even though he had not been socialised with them before and he had to go on a very steep learning curve. Although Buddy has grown up with children, it is recommended that this boy be re-homed without them.

A VERY HAPPY ENDING

Although Buddy went to the UK to be rehomed, Kathryn, our Ireland Co-ordinator, missed him very much and, realizing her mistake, she came to England to take him back to Ireland. As he hadn’t been found a perfect home, this was not a problem.

This once very thin lad now looks the picture of health. He is happy, loved and treasured. Buddy is now well settled with his new family of Laurel, Hardy, Charlie Chaplin and Angel.
