Duffy

(Was Buffy)

Buffy is an 18 month old Golden Retriever who was surrendered to the Pound in Donegal by her previous owner. Her coat was in such a matted state that it had to be totally clipped. She is extremely nervous and needs constant reassurance. She has been spayed and is now microchipped. Buffy was in foster in Worcestershire.

FOSTER’S FIRST REPORT – JULY 2011

Jane wrote “Buffy arrived 3 days ago after spending a few days with Sandie in Ireland. She is clean in the house and we don’t hear a peep out of her all night. She is fine with Tess & Harvey to the extent that she totally ignores them and doesn’t bat an eyelid at the cats or the rest of our menagerie.

She’s quite nervous and follows you everywhere, but is very eager to please and has a lovely gentle nature – but looks so sad.

She met my friend’s 6 year old boy at the weekend and was great with him. Doubt if she has ever been on a lead but does like to go out for a walk, does not pull at all but wanders all over the place.

She loves her home comforts and will make any attempt to get on the furniture and now has pinched Harvey’s bed much to his disgust!!

FOSTER’S UPDATE – AUGUST 2011

Jane said “Buffy has now been with us for 2 weeks and has settled in really well. She has come out of her shell and seems a lot happier and even is even brave enough to go to the top of the garden on her own. She still needs reassurance, especially if Malcolm goes out or disappears out of sight, she has really become attached to him, but then will soon settle after a while”.

She loves to go out in the car and will jump in given the opportunity. She is very easy to walk on the lead and will walk by your side most of the time.

Buffy is great at night and sleeps well, she loves a comfy bed and still given the chance will jump into Harvey’s – she even sleeps with the cat! Buffy still shows no interest in Tess and Harvey at home but does seem to need them for encouragement when going out for a walk. Have taken her out several times without them but she keeps turning back to look for them, but I am sure in time she will grow in confidence.

She has changed so much in the short time we have had her from a very timid little girl who is gaining in confidence every day!”
