Gone to Rainbow Bridge

GO FLY WITH THE ANGELS LOVELY GIRL (7.01.2009)

Cassie may have only been with us for a few days but it seemed as though she had been our dog for ever. She wiggled into our lives with a big beam on her face and we were hooked. The next day she worked her magic on the rest of the family.

She and old Bella quickly became good friends, going on adventures together in the garden and lying close beside the fire in a warm, snoring heap of golden fur. Walks were enormous fun as Cassie trotted round the sports field playing ball boy for the players at the tennis club. All she wanted was a bigger mouth so that she could hold more than two at a time.

We were devastated to lose her so soon. She will always be in our hearts.
We miss you, little Cassie
All our love from Rob, Di and Bella.

A TRIBUTE TO CASSIE FROM YOUR VERY GOOD FRIEND TESSA

Cassie when you first came into my house you came with lots of knots and tangles and smelling of allsorts, you even pinched my bed but I didn’t mind giving it up for an old lady.

You disappeared for an afternoon but came back smelling of roses, mummy and daddy said you had been to the hairdressers. It was nice to have you back because I had no one to play with.

The best was when we used to go off bunny hunting up the garden and no one could find us but we always stuck together.

After a stressful day in the garden it was nice to unwind in front of the fire with you licking my ears.

I missed you when mummy and daddy took you to your new forever home but they said you were very happy there with Rob, Di and Bella.

You were the closest thing I had to a big sister and will miss you loads.

Cassie you will always hold a very special place in our hearts

Love from Tessie and my humans Malcolm, Jane and Becky xxxxxx

HISTORY

Cassie is a gentle and sweet natured Golden Retriever who was 11 years old when she went into foster care in 2008. She was quite settled and relaxed and there wasn’t a peep from her all night long as she loves her bed.

Jane, her fosterer said “She is not as wobbly on her feet now but still remains stiff on her back legs. You only have to rattle the lead and she is at your feet. She loves to go out for a little walk and will soon tell you when she’s had enough as she lies on the floor and will not budge, so she would be ideal for a more mature person.

She is fine with the cats and will happily sleep beside them”.

Cassie and Ben were not as close as we had believed they would be. In fact, Ben only had eyes and a lot more for the young female in the house so both she and Cassie were much more relaxed and happy when Ben went to another foster home.

A PERFECT FOREVER HOME

Cassie has now gone to her forever home to live with Di, Rob and Bella where she even had Christmas presents waiting for her.
They were delighted with her and hopefully she will give Bella a new lease of life and company.

FIRST REPORT FROM HER FOREVER HOME

Di and Rob said, “Thought you’d want to know how Cassie has been so just a quick update. She’s settling in well and had a really good night, not a sound out of her all night. She slept most of the evening as well, think she’s exhausted after Xmas (I know how she feels!). She went in and out of the dog flap several times with encouragement, following Bella, so it won’t be long before she feels independent enough to do it for herself.

She ate her breakfast this morning, wandered round the garden, had a little play with one of her Xmas presents and is now fast asleep again, snoring happily. We’ll all be off on a nice exploratory walk later when it’s less icy outside – then she can see her new neighbourhood and hopefully meet some of the other local dogs and their people. Will keep you posted of her progress.”

“Cassie’s new found happiness was short lived and she has sadly passed over the Rainbow Bridge”.
