CHLOE’S HISTORY

Chloe and Maisie are two beautiful girls aged 4 and 7 yrs. They were surrendered together by their breeder and they are currently being fostered by Belinda and Terry in Somerset.

FOSTERER’S INITIAL REPORT: FEBRUARY 2012

Chloe is much slighter than Maisie and really beautiful. She is very keen to please, lots of tail wagging but rather nervous. She has had a couple of accidents in the house, but I think she is basically housetrained. They both went out into the garden with our dogs after supper and they all ran round together. They are both eating well.

Visitors called round today and Maisie was really friendly – came up to be stroked. Chloe was friendly but she tends to keep her distance a bit. They were both very friendly with our grandchild yesterday and once they had seen the chicken they took no notice of her. They haven’t met the cat yet who always stays away from new arrivals until she has sussed them out!

FOSTERER’S REPORT: MARCH 2012

Chloe and Maisie have now really settled into our routine and become part of the group. Maisie is good on the lead, pulling to begin with and then settles down. She is anxious to greet everyone we meet and is good with other dogs. Chloe tends to be a bit panicky on the lead and darts about, but they both love going out for walks. They are both good in the car. Having discovered the cat, we would recommend that they go to a cat-free home, as they would both give chase if they got the chance. They are a lovely pair of girls, love being groomed, and Maisie especially is a big cuddle monster. It would be lovely if they could be rehomed together.

CHLOE GOES TO HER FOREVER HOME: APRIL 2012

Chloe and Maisie leaving together to go to their Forever Home with Jan and Dave in Cheshire.

ADOPTERS’ FIRST REPORT: APRIL 2012

Both Chloe and Maisie have settled in really well with no problems at all – not a peep from them the first night! They had their first meeting with our 4 year old and baby grandchildren and they were so well behaved (the girls, that is!). We’ve been out on 4 walks and no problem on the lead – we can’t believe it!

They’ve been galloping up and down the garden all day and are both asleep at the moment (we both would like to do the same – we’re worn out!). Maisie and Chloe are such delights – as you said they were – we feel so lucky to have them.

Chloe and Maisie: Update from their forever home – May 2012

Apart from being an absolute delight, adorable and funny they have both fitted into our lives so easily and without causing any problems at all.

It’s true that we’ve only had around 6 nights (out of around 30) when they haven’t had us up in the early hours barking to go out, but this is just part of the learning curve for them and we are sure this will pass. Strange noises still cause a stir with them and this is something they will get used to.

They both have a great time in the garden and we are lucky to have a long lawn where they can both charge up and down – Maisie does more ‘bounding’ actually and Chloe is like a whippet. They are gradually getting used to lying out in the sun and are now quite confident to explore the bushes.

We are also lucky enough to live just a few minutes walk from open countryside and both Maisie and Chloe are really good on the lead but they can, on occasion, tie us in knots when they decide to cross over and the leads are extended!

The attached photo is by the River Mersey just 10 minutes walk away. It’s early days, yet, to allow them off the lead, and Chloe is still a bit nervous when she hears unexpected loud noises so this step is a while off yet, but she grows in confidence by the week and is quite happy to go exploring in the garden by herself.

Maisie is in charge and has no confidence problems!

They have both been to the vet for a check-up – everything okay – and we are watching Maisie’s weight – she does like her food!

We are both so happy to have Maisie and Chloe – and we’ve lost weight since having them.

We will keep you up to date from time to time.
