Cisco Brogden

CISCO is a very well bred, lovely natured, housetrained Golden Retriever. He was neutered and was going to be 7yrs on 15th June 2008. He is slightly bigger than Ozzie and has a straighter coat and broader face.

He has always lived with Ozzie but their owner was emigrating and could not take them with her. The two boys seemed to be very close to one another so were fostered together with Andy and Val, after an overnight stop with Pauline (the bossy one). He is now microchipped.

Cisco is particularly friendly with children. He loves to be out and about but, on the downside, he can be an escape artist and can jump high fences and walls. He has had no contact with cats but is good with other dogs.

He will carry his dinner bowl from inside to outside the house. He does the same with water bowls so he must have a HEAVY one!!!!!!!!!

He can swim but prefers to paddle.

We are very much hoping to be able to rehome the two boys together but, if we feel they could cope with being split, and it was in their best interests, then we may consider it.

ONE WEEK ON

Andy says ” Cisco and Ozzie have been here for a week now. They’re lovely dogs and have been no trouble at all, a pleasure to have here in fact.

Cisco loves a fuss but is much more laid back than Oz and is happy to let Oz have the lion’s share of the fuss.

They’re both house trained, fine to be left, and travel well in the car. They’re fine with people of all sizes, and other dogs, although we haven’t had the opportunity to cat test them. Very good on the lead, to the point that my mom takes them both out together quite happily.

No real vices …. yet, although I think Cisco may live up to his reputation and disappear for a wander given the chance.

Their coats were in a bit of a state, although Pauline removed the worst thankfully. Lots of grooming later, and they look quite handsome now as their pics show.

It will be interesting to see how Cisco copes without his brother whilst Oz is at the vets.

FROM THEIR FOREVER MUM, ONE WEEK ON

No snow sadly, and lovely sunshine here today in Nottinghamshire.

The boys have settled in so well it’s hard to believe that they have only been with us a week…..

We have our daily ritual of squirrel patrol on their early morning walk and Karen brings them to meet me on my way home so that they can have another walk, they met Karen’s Dad’s dog during the week and Cisco found himself a playmate they exhausted one another (playing rough and tumble) while Ozzie placed himself above all that childish behaviour and sat watching them.

They are a delight to have around. Everyone who knew Hollie is saying how much Cisco looks like her and how much Ozzie looks like Josh, our other rescued retriever, and that they must have been sent to help heal the huge hole left by Hollie.

Ozzie is still being bossy and still pushes in and has acquired another toy to pick up and thrust at you. We discovered that both of them love to play with a ball and have given them a Rugby ball to play within the garden!!!! They think it is great fun when it bounces the opposite way.

UPDATE FROM HIS FOREVER HOME

Karen (Gill’s daughter) says, “Hugs and licks from Da Boyz! Cisco is doing great, he has really settled now and has several nicknames. His personality has really come out now. Cisco seems to stick to me more. They have both suffered in the latest warm weather and have had a few ups and downs, Oz more than Cis. They are both currently with me at my dad’s loving every moment as they get rather spoilt!”
