Cooper

Cooper is a lovely, gentle two year old Golden Retriever who was in kennels at the same time as Chip who has been renamed Otis. He has been vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

HISTORY

He came into the care of IRR in Northern Ireland needing washing and grooming. He was quite scared in kennels and was very pleased to be out. He soon settled in with his fosterer and quickly became part of the furniture.

He has never been in a home environment before so, although he loves being part of a family, he found it difficult being inside so he would come in for short periods of time then want to go back out again

PERSONALITY
When Heather picked him up, he met her with a waggy tail and big kisses. He is a lovely boy with a gentle nature. He is quite a bouncy character who loves attention.

SOCIAL LEARNING

Food: He is not food aggressive or possessive and was happy to share a water bowl with Pepper even on arrival.

Lead walking: He loves to walk but he does pull a little bit on the lead. His fosterer has been working on this and she found the more he has been out and about, the less he is pulling. He is so excited to be going for a walk that it takes a while to put a lead on him. Heather has been using a slip lead to walk him and that seems to be working well.

Recall: Cooper doesn’t recognise his name so it makes recall difficult but Heather has had him off lead in a secure place and has found he responds well to praise and treats so both are working well with him. He now sits on command especially if there is treat available.

Children: He was good with the fosterer’s two boys and has shown no sign of aggression to any of the family.

Dogs: He met Pepper and Bailey and Heather didn’t hear a peep from him from the moment he arrived. He was very settled and easy to manage. They have been playing bitey face and let’s see who is the tallest. Heather feels he probably shouldn’t be rehomed with another male but would be fine with a female or females.

DREAM HOME
This lovely, gentle boy, like so many, simply needs a forever home where he will be loved to bits and where he will receive the attention that he has, clearly, missed out on.
