Dusty Jarvis

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

IT WAS THE SADDEST OF NEWS (26th Jan 2015)

Dusty went to sleep forever on 26th January after being unwell for about a month.

Jayne told us “I took her to the vets on 30th December as she was being sick (bile) but the vet thought she had an infection of some sort so gave her some antibiotics.

I took her back the following week as she still seemed a ‘little out of sorts’ so they did further tests which showed she had a problem with her kidneys. We then went to see a specialist who advised us that she had chronic kidney disease / failure – stage 4 and her prognosis was not good.

We started a renal diet and a selection of pills but at the weekend she stopped eating. I took her back to the vets yesterday morning to see if there was anything they could give her to make her eat but the vet said that if this was his dog he would put her to sleep, as with this disease there is no good outcome.

I brought Dusty home as we decided to see if she would eat ‘human ‘ food, chicken, fish rice etc. but she was not interested . Based on this (she had not eaten for 3 days now) we decided it was best if she went to sleep.

There was not one bone in my body that wanted this for my Dusty but she couldn’t carry on, although the specialist said she was not in pain, he did say that she would be tired and her muscles would ache.

I had Dusty (Petra) from you on 16th March 2014. Dusty was only approx. 4 years old. Because she was so young, the vet and specialist said that this was probably something she was born with as both kidneys were small or she had some infections that weren’t treated and this caused the issue.

Our hearts really go out to Jayne and family at this terrible time. Any loss is hard to bear but, with one so young, it is especially cruel and hard to accept.

An angel on earth and now an angel in heaven. Goodbye sweet lady.

HISTORY

FOSTERER’S ASSESSMENT

Personality: Perfect Petra (now Dusty) is a really lovely gentle girl and she is great with children. She is a real pleasure to have around and is very loving and gentle. She loves to play with a ball and toys and especially loves getting muddy!!!

She walks well on her lead and in general acts like a younger dog. She is neither toy or food possessive. She loves her food and is quite greedy. She will make a lucky person a beautiful addition to their family.

Behaviour with other animals – Good with other dogs and cats

Dusty’s Dream Home

Dusty will fit into any family environment but will love to be the centre of attention where there’s lots going on and plenty of cuddles available 🙂
