GRACIE’S HISTORY

Gracie was surrendered through no fault of her own.

FOSTERER’S Initial report – IRELAND: Dec 2011

Gracie is a 6mths old golden retriever cross Labrador who is very bright and vibrant. She loves the company of other dogs and has learned a lot from my dogs. She has great recall when out in the fields with all her doggie friends, but only with people she trusts. She loves her food and will eat from mine and my partner’s hands. Building this trust did take time. She has shown no aggression towards our dogs, strange dogs, us or strangers either in public or at our home. She is not food possessive. She loves cuddles; plays with all toys but favours tennis balls and teddies. She is happy to be indoors and outdoors but not to be left alone outside. She walks well on the lead when other dogs are with her, but is nervous of passing cars and strange noises when walking alone. She will make someone a fantastic pet with the right training.

FOSTERER’S Initial REPORT – UK: Dec 2011

Gracie is good in the house but at the moment is very quiet and I am working to build her trust. She is beginning to come to me especially if I go out into the garden and is wagging her tail and coming for cuddles and strokes. She is eating well and is curious and interested in what is going on although she does not yet have the confidence to join in or investigate too closely. Gracie is very gentle with people and other dogs. I think she needs some time to settle in but feel we have made progress in the short space of time she has been here. She is a beautiful puppy and once she gains confidence should prove an affectionate companion.

FOSTER’S 2nd report – UK: Dec 2011

Gracie is making good progress and is more confident around the house. She is still worried when visitors arrive and retreats to her den but is showing interest in them and coming to look at them. She is very clean in the house and has only had one accident when she got excited. She plays with other dogs and enjoys her walks, but is still a little nervous of passing traffic. She walks well on her harness but does pull a bit. At the moment I am working on building her confidence.

She will not approach people outside but she doesn’t pull away from them as she did at first. Gracie does get worried by joggers running towards her especially, if they are men.

Gracie is very affectionate and loves cuddles. She is eating well and accepts treats from people she knows. She sleeps all night and does not cry when left. I have left her for short periods of time and she didn’t seem to have a problem with that. She seems to know now that I will come back.

We have taken Gracie out in the car and she loves that. She jumps straight in and settles down quietly for the journey.

Gracie has seen children and seemed curious but would not approach them. She has also come face to face with a cat but seemed unworried by her. She made no move to chase the cat when it ran.
