Heidi Wey

EARLY DAYS

Heidi was a 3 year old spayed bitch who is micro-chipped, vaccinated and wormed. Her very sad owner said “She has the sweetest temperament just as a Goldie should have. She is fed on Hills food and has no health issues other than having one fit following a stressful situation but we were advised it wouldn’t be safe for us to leave her unattended with our other dogs. She is a food addict although she is not overweight at all but she is an opportunist and has been known to raid a work top if given half a chance. She is not brilliant on the lead, doesn’t pull just bunny hops!.”

REPORT FROM LYNNE

Heidi was taken into foster with Lynne in Bristol where she stayed for 3 months to check her out fully and she reported “Heidi is a lovely, friendly, very lively girl who loves the company of my other dogs. She has had no sign whatsoever of any fits even after being taken off all medication by our vet within a few days of her arrival. He did recommend, to be on the safe side, she should not be vaccinated again as that could trigger a fit if there really was an underlying problem, which he doubted, and suggested that testing her antibody levels would be a much better bet. She definitely needs the companionship of another dog or dogs” We needed a very special owner for Heidi and were delighted when Stephanie came along.

UPDATE FROM HER FOREVER OWNER, STEPHANIE

Stephanie says “I am so happy to say that Heidi is earning her off lead privledges (slowly of course!) We are very proud of her. In addition something just “clicked” in the last few days and she finally get’s it…how to walk on a lead without pulling! Again, I am so proud! It took 3 months and no doubt will continue needing practice but she is getting it none the less! I will try to get a picture of her bouncing through the wheat fields and send it over, that is truly one happy dog!

We are positive she loves her new home now. I often find her in “her spots” on the property, special spots that she likes to play or relax. For some odd reason she not only likes to lay in the driveway made of rocks, but to also roll in them. We don’t get it, but it makes her happy! Her house manners are much better and she is now starting to be as good as our other dog, Abby .
