Hollie

Age: 4.5 year old

Sex: female, spayed

History

Hollie’s owners sadly were unable to keep her, so have asked IRR to find her the very best home.

Personality
Hollie is a sweet, gentle natured girl, although occasionally she can get over excited, particularly if she sees children playing and wants to join in. She has always been kept on a lead near children in case she knocks them over. Hollie mouths and does this particularly when excited over having her harness on. Hollie is good with other dogs and has been let off lead to play with no problems, however she may not recognise when other dogs don’t want to play.

Hollie is good with children in a house environment. Hollie is a chewer and has had a previous operation to remove part of a baseball cap. Rope toys etc are an absolute no no, human food can upset her tummy and as a counter surfer she must not be left unsupervised if food has been left out !!

Hollie’s dream home
Hollie would love a home with a family who already have another dog. She will need regular exercise and plenty of cuddles every day. She will make a fabulous pet. Hollie needs a home that can manage her excitability, chewing and counter surfing habits. She needs to be kept on lead when children are playing nearby. Hollie would be best suited to a family with older children 12+. Hollie would suit somebody is at home most of the time.

November 2014

Hollie has gone to her Forever Home

FIRST UPDATE FROM HOLLIE’S NEW HOME (NOVEMBER 2014)

Her new Mum, Yvonne, tells us Hollie is settling in well and Woody is getting used to her, even letting her share his bed. Yvonne says “It’s been just over a week since the lovely Hollie came into our home and it’s been very eventful. She has taken over Woody’s bed, eaten 3lbs of best stewing steak raw from the kitchen side (my fault) and eaten a full bag of organic training treats which gave her the poops!! She also snores louder than my hubby and son. Still, she is learning the rules of the house and she gets plenty of fuss.

Helayna is smitten as she comes and flops on her when she is chilling on the floor (something Woody wouldn’t do as she doesn’t keep still). It was Helayna’s 8th birthday at the weekend and Hollie was fantastic with all the visitors and comings and goings. She still brings us a toy or a cardigan or a tea towel, if she can get them, but she has finally learnt how to use the dog flap so success!!!”

UPDATE ON HOLLIE JUNE 2016 – SIX MONTHS ON

Yvonne tells us “It is six months since the lovely Hollie joined our household but it seems like she has always been here. She loves playing with Helayna and her friends and doesn’t mind if they use her as part of their “story” or put funny hats on her etc, she just follows them around all afternoon. Hollie is so cheeky and loveable. She thinks the beds are for her to sleep in and boy she can snore like an old man. She will still try to eat anything left around, which she assumes is fair game! so my house has never been so tidy!

Woody has realised she is here to stay so, occasionally, he will snuggle up with Hollie on the same bed. He is a lean mean fighting machine now, as he has lost weight with all the chasing around Hollie makes him do when out on the common. She is lovable and snuggly as Helayna puts it and has fitted in with our routines no problem. She loves it when you clean her ears but we are not so sure about the silent but deadly’s she can do!! PHEW!

She quickly learned to stop jumping up and mouthing but still greets you with something in her mouth so, to keep our shoes safe, the local charity shop is getting lots of business for cuddly toys!

The best thing we ever did was to adopt Hollie and we would urge anyone to go ahead and give these lovely dogs another start in life. We just need to win the lottery now so we can buy a bigger house to fit in more doggies haha”.
