Holly

This sweet, gentle girl is Holly, a 12 year old Labrador whose life has been turned upside down. She was the much loved dog of an elderly couple who very sadly passed away within three weeks of each other, leaving Holly alone and confused. The family have been caring for her but unfortunately are unable to keep her so they have had to make the difficult decision to have her rehomed. Holly was initially in an Oldies Club foster home in Essex where she was assessed so that the best possible home could be found for her.

Holly is quite nervous of new people, especially men but she soon makes friends and is very affectionate. She had not really experienced walking on grass before so she is just learning the delights of a garden and of lovely sniffy walks in the fields. Holly is living with two elderly bitches in her foster home and, although she was a bit apprehensive of them at first, she has settled down well and is beginning to enjoy their company and follow their lead.

This lovely old girl will be ready for rehoming in a couple of weeks. She will need an understanding and loving home where she can continue to regain her confidence and that wonderful labrador joie de vivre.

UPDATE ON HOLLY IN HER FOREVER HOME

Lesley says. “Holly is settling really well and that’s due to the work and time that Rob, Di and the girls have given her. She’s been on her first walk today only about 15 mins but she was really showing interest, her nose was twitching and she is starting to take an interest in the world that’s around her. She’s been outside a lot today with my hubby and 5 year old. She needs time and we’ve got all the time in the world so she can take her time. We intend to make up for lost time for her, it’s so sad because although she wasn’t treated badly she has missed out on so so much but we intend to make her final years her happiest. So many people have said, why are you adopting an old dog? I just say, exactly because of what you’ve just said, nobody wants an oldie.”
