Honey

Age: Approximately 8.

Sex: Female – Spayed

History

Honey was surrendered to IRR by her owner who could not take care of her. She is a small, sweet-natured golden retriever. The fur on her nose has been rubbed away but is re-growing now since she has been in foster-care.

Personality:
Honey is a very gentle dog who likes attention and she will gently paw you to remind you when she wants to be stroked! She settled quickly in her foster home and is friendly with everyone that she meets. She is house trained and sleeps throughout the night on her bed in the kitchen without any disturbance. She is neither food or toy possessive and will retrieve (sometimes!) toys that are thrown for her.

Honey’s got on fine with two other dogs in her first foster home. She is good on the lead and was fine with dogs that she met while out for a walk. She has not been cat-tested, but is very interested in a rabbit at her foster-home so it’s reasonable to expect she would chase cats.

She has been left alone for a couple of hours and she has behaved perfectly,
nothing chewed or damaged!

She was initially car-sick en route to her fosterer’s house, but after the first few minutes she was fine and she doesn’t mind being in the car. However, being a slightly older dog, she does need some assistance to climb in.

Honey’s Dream Home:
Honey would do best being an only dog, possibly with an older couple who can give her a calm and loving environment here she can continue to thrive.

UPDATE FROM HONEY’S FOREVER HOME JUNE 2013

Marian and Allen tell us that Honey is settling in and eating well and has been very good. She has had a first quick visit to the vets to be weighed and she behaved impeccably.

Their daughter went to meet Honey and took lots of lovely pics of her.

They describe Honey as “the most gorgeous creature” who they already love very much. Marian and Allen said “A big thank you to IRR for sending Honey to us”.
