Hunny Bird

SHE WAS JUST A BABY

Hunny, as a five month old Golden Retriever, was relinquished by a young lady who found she had too much on her plate with having to care for her Mum as well as working full time and studying.

Unfortunately, Hunny has originated from a puppy farm. The owner was told she is a full Goldie and has supposedly got a rare gene that makes her eye colour green and her nose pink!!!!!!

ASSESSMENT

Hunny is a bouncy pup who has been well looked after. She is a very intelligent girl who loves life and is very well trained. She sits, stays, gives her paw then switches it and waits when crossing a road. She also goes to bed when told.

She will be very easy trained to do what the owner asks of her but this will need to be kept up as Hunny will get bored very quickly and, still being a puppy, will start to destroy soft toys or beds.

She was an indoor dog and just loves to be around people and loves to please. She is a pleasure to have about and will make anyone an excellent pet. She seems to prefer female human company, rather than male and loves getting petted.

She a little bit wet in her pics as her fosterer was hosing down the back garden and she jumped into the middle of the water.

SOCIAL LEARNING

Travel: She travelled well in the car from her home to her fosterer’s despite never having been in a car before.

Housetraining: She goes to the toilet on command.

Leadwalking and recall: She pulls a little bit on a lead but her fosterer is working on it. This is, apparently, coming on brilliantly and she just copies Pepper when out on walks. Her recall is fantastic for one so young.

Food: There is no food aggression or possession. She has just had her first bone and didn’t know what to do with it but, once she discovered what she had to do, it was all systems go.

Children: She is too excitable to be rehomed with young children but a teenager can walk her with ease and can control her.

Dogs: She hasn’t been well socialised with other dogs but this is improving as she spends more time with Pepper. She isn’t aggressive towards other dogs just doesn’t know how to react towards them.

Cats: Her owner had two kittens in the house with her as well as rats and a rabbit.
