Isabelle Bissett

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

A TRIBUTE FROM SANDIE

Today Rainbow Bridge received another angel – my beautiful Isabelle who came to me nine and half years ago from Ashton Pound after being picked up roaming the streets with her puppy. She enjoyed a wonderful life although never enjoyed the best of health, having had numerous operations. She was a gyneacological wreck, regularly taking up residence in the wardrobe where she’d nest. She’d collect all the remote controls and phones in the house and take them in there and god help me if I tried to retrieve them or if any of the other dogs tried to enter the room. She was such a character in every way, loved men, would abandon me as soon as a man walked into the house – Leroy was the love of her life. She ruled the dogs with an iron rod, especially the numerous foster dogs who have stayed here over the years. Now who is going to keep all those retrievers in check??

My lovely Isabelle was one of a kind, she brightened my life immensely and was a loyal and faithful friend and companion. She will be greatly missed, not only by me but by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her and succumbing to her many charms.

Fly with the angels sweet Isabelle.

ISABELLE – A POEM BY WENDY

Dumped in a pound, frightened and scared,
you took me in to your home and your love I shared.

I loved all the dogs and fosters too,
I put them in their place and told them what to do.

I had such an awful life until you found me,
but you showed me how perfect a dog’s life can be.

I loved cuddling up with all the dogs and you,
and especially Jessica who liked a cuddle too.

I had phantom pregnancies when I came to you,
I made my nest in your wardrobe and you knew just what to do.

I had an operation on my eye too,
It made me feel better, and it was all thanks to you.

You have shown me so much love and kindness too,
I have loved every day and the company too.

Nothing was too much trouble and you always did your best,
sometimes it was hard for you and you never had a rest.

I will always stay very close to you,
you will feel all the love that I have for you.

I will be just a whisper away,
and I will think of you each and every day.

I will walk in the footsteps of IRR dogs that have passed by,
we will meet up again and you may hear us sigh.

The Angels came looking for me,
they wanted a ‘Little Dog’ and thought of me.

I will never forget all that you have done,
to me you were such a ‘Wonderful Mum’.

Lots of Love from ‘Little Isabelle’ xxxxxxxxxx

TREASURED FRIEND

I lost a treasured friend today
The little dog who used to lay
Her gentle head upon my knee
And shared her silent thoughts with me.She’ll come no longer to my call
Retrieve no more her favourite ball
A voice far greater than my own
Has called her to his golden throne.

Although my eyes are filled with tears
I thank him for the happy years
He let her spend down here with me
And for her love and loyalty.

When it is time for me to go
And join her there, this much I know
I shall not fear the transient dark
For she will greet me with a bark.
