TWO PRETTY GIRLS NEEDING A HOME

This gorgeous bundle of fluff was aged 14 weeks (as of 13 August 2014). She came to us with her sister Poppy (was Petal) from Ireland.

Izzy (then called Queenie) was showing signs of being slightly more outgoing than her sister – she is very affectionate and gives kisses and cuddles freely!

We think she may be a Retriever x Collie so we knew she was going to grow into a very beautiful girl.

This lovely young lady and her sister travelled to the UK in mid September once they had had her rabies vaccination.

A PERFECT FOREVER HOME (September 2014)

Izzy went to her Forever Home with Bridgette and Ricky and their happy menagerie in Somerset.

A WONDERFUL LITTLE GIRL (Update from Izzie’s Forever Home – October 2014)

Bridgette and family are over the moon with their wonderful little girl who has brought the sunshine back into their lives after the loss of their beloved boys, Jake and Elmo.

After an initial fear of everything, probably because of not having her sister as back-up, Izzie is getting better and better with every day and is generally much braver now. She quickly got used to two of the cats but Ed was a different kettle of fish and he terrified her. He had been best friends with Jake and had no time for the interloper who is so quick in comparison to his old pal. Fortunately, Ed is getting more and more friendly and Izzie now barks at him rather than runs so progress is definitely being made.

From the first day, Izzie got used to the chickens, accompanying her Mum with her extending lead attached to Bridgette’s waist. There has never been any sign of aggression, just curiosity, especially when the chickens flapped and fluttered in the early days. She is also fine with the horses, cows and sheep, again just showing interest but taking it all in her stride.

The only things that still make her wary are big, loud engines and noisy clanking gates which, despite her tender age, must trigger bad memories from the past for her. Interestingly, she is also quite wary of the large broom and yard shovel so, again, there must be lingering bad associations which she is gradually getting over.

Izzie is very outgoing and friendly and loves it when doggy visitors come and then she has a good excuse for some mad playtime. Everyone is looking forward to the future when it will be just right for her to have a new brother as a full time playmate. Izzie really loves her puppy classes and is already proving to be the star pupil. Bridgette is soooo proud of her. She is very smart and alert and seems to love discovering new things. She was quite fascinated by seeing her first heavy rain and she also really enjoys splishing about in the streams. The other day, she spent ages playing with the spray of water coming from a small hole in the yard hosepipe. Everything is fun to this happy little girl.

Her house training is still a bit hit and miss but she is getting there. It can’t have been easy trying to teach two puppies growing up together but, being as bright as Izzie is, she will soon have it totally sussed. She loves her food and has the luxury of sleeping with Bridgette’s granddaughter at night. Chloe recently moved in to spend as much time with the adorable Izzie as possible and the attachment was, immediately, equally strong on both sides with Izzie, at first, crying when Chloe went off to college for the day. She soon realised, though, that her best buddy would be back and, in any case, her days are very full being spent at her Mum’s side at all times whether that be as she works with all the various animals or they relax together in the house. Izzie loves her cuddles and puts her nose up in the air for a kiss. She is also the apple of her Dad’s eye and all the human visitors think she is totally adorable.

Bridgette said ” We all love Izzie to bits and we are really grateful to IRR for allowing her to come to live with us”.
