Joy

General Organiser

Joy was, for several years, an essential part of our team but has had to take a back seat in recent years for personal reasons. She constantly scoured the web for Golden Retrievers in Ireland who needed our help as well as ably assisted Pauline and Lorraine in arranging home checks, transport and sifting through prospective adopters. Joy also fostered for us many times and has a special talent for assisting IRR with whelping a bitch and rearing puppies which she has done on a few occasions for us.

Tara who is a brood bitch for Guide Dogs for the Blind has had 4 litters, with all her pups trained as guide dogs although some didn’t qualify, so became sniffer dogs for The Police Force and Customs & Excise instead. One of Tara’s pups won Guide ‘Dog of the Year 2010’.

Her other dog Fable who Joy puppy-walked was also destined to be a guide dog, but was unable to pass all the rigorous tests involved, therefore Joy was more than happy to have Fable back permanently.

Fable and Tara are always very welcoming to foster dogs or ex-fosters who come for a visit as can be see from these pics.

The last one of Kelly, Fable and Tara in the kitchen is actually the female puppy, Kerry, now all grown up and called Kelly. This was taken when she came back to stay for a week when she was a year old. I’m sure they all remembered each other.
