Kelly Ellis

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

Forever in our Hearts

Kelly’s mum, Rosa said, “We are heartbroken to say our lovely girl Kelly crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on the 9th of November 2020.  Although we knew we were very lucky to have had her for 15 ½ years, it was still  very painful to say goodbye to our beautiful princess.

Kelly (originally called Kerry) arrived as a 12 weeks puppy in 2005 with her Mum Kelly, Dad Rooney and brother Bouncer (originally called Rory). They had been rescued by the ISPCA from a puppy farm and were given to Sandie, the founder of IRR, to help them with the rehoming. On arrival in the UK, mum and puppies went to Joy’s house in Abingdon for fostering. That was where we met Kelly for first time and loved her from the moment we saw her.

Kelly was a very special girl. She helped to settle all the foster dogs that came to our house. Later when I started my business of dog boarding, she was brilliant with every one of them. All of them looked up to her as the leader of the pack and felt safe.

Kelly was also a life saver. Five years ago my husband had a stroke, fortunately he made a full recovery but if it hadn’t been for Kelly we are sure the outcome would have been different. She raised the alarm. She rushed upstairs, which she hadn’t done since her ligament operation two years earlier and she barked and barked, she didn’t stop until she had my attention and I opened the bedroom door to find my husband on the floor unable to move or talk. Not only did she save my husband’s life but also helped me in the difficult days that followed.

Our baby girl enjoyed life right up until the last 3 days when her legs and body gave way. She looked much younger than she was and nobody believed she was 15 ½.  Kelly loved her walks, her toys and her canine friends. She is the only dog that I know that had six different beds and she loved them all! But above all Kelly loved us and we loved her.  She was always water-shy, happy with just paddling ankle deep but this summer at the grand age of 15 she decided to start swimming! She just took off and she loved it!

The vet came to our house, the rain stopped and the sun came out as Kelly crossed the Rainbow Bridge in our garden.  I took it as a sign from her saying “I am ok Mummy”.  We miss her terribly and our hearts ache thinking of her.

Thank you, IRR for having given us the chance to share our life with our amazing Kelly. She will be forever in our hearts.”

KELLY LOST BOUNCER (10.3.2012) BUT IS STILL GOING STRONG IN 2020

Despite darling Bouncer crossing Rainbow Bridge in the Spring of 2012 when he was barely 7yrs old, Kelly saw another Christmas (2019) and is still going strong 8yrs after his passing.

She and brother Bouncer were noted for their trademark Mohican haircuts.
