Kevin

SEPARATION WAS THE MAKING OF KEVIN

Although Kevin and Tootsie were in the Pound together, travelled to the UK together and went into foster together, they weren’t in any way a bonded pair and were as different as chalk and cheese.

Tootsie was adopted by their fosterers and Kevin moved on to be fostered by Lynn in Scotland who was able to further assess him before finding him the perfect home.

HISTORY

Kevin and Tootsie were in the Pound together. As usual, they were both vet checked and rabies vaccinated so they met the legal requirements to enter the UK.

Kevin is a castrated, 4yr old Golden Retriever. He has a super-handsome face and is quite small in stature.

They were both fostered by Marion and Dave in Norfolk where it was found the two dogs had no particular bond with each other.

PERSONALITY

He is a good looking boy with very few issues who seems to be growing in confidence. Marion had said “Kevin follows me around the house as I’m doing my bits and pieces”.

HEALTH

Kevin is in good health apart from some injuries on his ears which are dry, clean and healing well.

SOCIAL LEARNING

TRAVEL: Kevin is happy and content travelling in a vehicle

BASIC TRAINING: Marion said “He appears to have had some basic training but he is a counter surfer who will try to get what he can off the worktops.

He jumped up a lot when trying to get my attention but he has responded well to me turning my back on him”.

HOUSETRAINING: He is now almost completely clean in the house

LEADWALKING: He walks best using a halti

RESOURCE GUARDING:  Kevin enjoys his runs about with his ball.  He is not willing to share the ball much but he doesn’t become aggressive if the wee one gets it although he will try other tactics to get it back.

SEPARATION ANXIETY: Kevin show no signs of separation anxiety.  He has been apart from Tootsie when we took her to the cricket club with Toby and left him behind and he showed no anxiety about being separated from her.

ADULTS:  He is very friendly with adults

CHILDREN: He is very friendly with children

DOGS: Kevin is wary of the resident dogs but he has no problems with any other dogs he has encountered outside.  Kevin and Tootsie were at the dog socialisation area together and were both off the lead in an enclosed space.  They interacted well with the other dogs in the area and showed no aggression

CATS: He wanted to chase a running cat outside

KEVIN’S DREAM HOME

Kevin would love a home with people who are happy to continue his training. Although he likes other dogs and defers to Tootsie, he would find it very difficult living in a multi-dog household.

A PERFECT HOME (December 2018)

After a short time in foster with Lynn, Kevin went to live in his Forever Home
