Gone to Rainbow Bridge

A VERY SAD DAY

Thursday December 5th 2019 was a very sad day.

After a few months of reasonably good health for a gentleman of his great age, Leo, suddenly, went off his legs and his food. There was only one option and Rose, bravely, made the decision to, gently, let him go so Roger, his long time vet, with Leo surrounded by people who loved him, sent him very peacefully on his final journey to Rainbow Bridge.

EARLY DAYS

Leo had been adopted by Ron and Rose from a local GSD rescue in November 2006. He was only 18mths old and too much for his original owners. His adopters immediately loved him to bits and he adored them too. They got some help with his training and were able to give him a free run every day in a friend’s secure field which was nearby to their home.

After Ron’s sad passing, Leo was Rose’s rock and constant companion and they continued living life together to the full.

LEO’S FINAL YEAR

Leo was well cared for right to the very end. Despite his legs beginning to fail him, he enjoyed his regular potters around the garden and in Gizzie’s field. With good food and daily supplements and, of course, loads of love, Leo continued to do well until, suddenly, he went downhill very rapidly. He told Rose it was his time and, much as it broke her heart, she did what was best for her beloved boy.

There is a dog with oversized ears,
That swivel to catch each new sound he hears.
His teeth are so sharp, his nose is so long,
Folks that don’t know him, may judge him quite wrong.

He loves with whole heart, the people he chooses,
And keeps them quite safe, like his flocks-so he muses.
His body is lean, and his bark is quite loud.
Though some think him mean, he’s just loyal and proud.

He likes to tell everyone, about the things that he sees,
The people the cats, the squirrels in the trees.
He greets each day with a bounce and such joy,
And loves to hear he has been a good boy.

FAREWELL LOVELY BOY (5.12.2019)

Leo will be very much missed by everyone who knew and loved him but most of all by Rose.

God speed Leo. Fly high with the angels.
