Lewis Gibson

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

SHOCKING NEWS (18.12.2023)

A shell-shocked and devastated Alan told us “We lost our gorgeous boy tonight, he died in the back of the car just as we got to the vets. He had been poorly since yesterday so we had a visit to the emergency vets yesterday morning. Lewis didn’t seem to be responding to treatment so we took him back tonight and it looks like an unknown tumour had ruptured.

He wasn’t even with us 4 months but he was a larger-than-life character, always smiling and he had the waggiest tail when he met anyone. I think he will be greatly missed in the village as all the local dog walkers knew him and they were asking where he was this morning.

Sleep tight beautiful boy, until we meet you again, join the beautiful Gibson Goldens at the Bridge, Jake, Shona,, Connor, Megan, Molly, Cody, Toby and now Lewis. You were only with us the blink of an eye but you were so loved by all the family.

Absolutely heartbroken”.

REMEMBERING LEWIS – TWO DAYS ON

“Celia and I would like to thank everyone for their kindness at this sad time. We have been there before but for some reason this loss has really hit us hard. Lewis was the most gorgeous boy and it was a privilege to have him in our family.

We first met Lewis off transport, to say I was smitten was an understatement, Celia was stood by the car as I walked back with him and I could see she felt the same way. There was nothing remarkable about him but there was something, if that makes sense. His tail never stopped wagging and his eyes were full of life backed up by the most beautiful smile. After we got home and introduced him to our pack it was as if he had always been with us. He took everything in his stride, our grandchildren were down on holiday and it was if he had always known them, he was so gentle. We took the chance to apply to adopt him the same day, knowing full well we could possibly be disappointed. The waiting was hard but thankfully we were given the go ahead to adopt him and he joined the family. We’ve had a wonderful time together even as short as it has been. He loved life and lived it to the full and met many other IRR dogs and their humans, he loved the beach and socialising at the cafe after. He had all the special attributes of a Golden, his temperament was fantastic, the cloth ears, the stubbornness and the piece de resistance blocking as many doorways as possible.

Thank you Lewis for letting us be a part of your life, your passing is going to take a long, long time to come to terms with.
