Lola’s Blog

Day 29 – Sunday 30 November

Had a very busy week since my birthday on Tuesday, lots of playing and getting very muddy. Spent a lot of time training foster mummy but I fear foster daddy is a very slow learner.

On Friday, I went to see Dr Bryoney who had a good poke and prod and said I was beautiful and very well – she is obviously a highly skilled Dr vet.

This morning we went for a walk to make sure foster mummy went to church. Foster daddy said that the Lola gang (Lola and foster daddy) were going across the fields to avoid boiling the water in the font – foster mummy said that Mr Jesus wanted to help us as well – I said don’t worry, I will make sure foster daddy behaves.

Foster daddy told me all about lots and lots of furry people who were also looking for a mummy and daddy to train and that although I am the most beautiful Lola in the world, perhaps some of these other furry people should find their new family instead of everyone loving Lola all the time. Lola is really pleased that everyone likes to know about her but I am generously going to give my furry friends a fair chance so I am not going to write my blog so often to make sure everyone else gets a turn. Speak soon Love Lola

Day 25 – Tuesday 25 November

Very strange this morning, foster mummy and foster daddy were very excited and fussed me lots and lots. They gave me something called a Nylabone to replace the one I had chewed to bits and some squeaky balls which were great fun.

Still some more fuss and cuddles – I don’t know what this birthday thing is but I like it. Foster mummy said that I am one today and that I am a big girl now but I am the same as I was yesterday – very curious.

Met some friends out in the fields with foster daddy – one of them jumped on my back and foster daddy wasn’t very happy so he pulled the Labrador off me.

On my evening walk we met my friend Millie the Collie – she was very pleased to see me and when foster daddy told Millie it was my birthday, she gave me some cuddles.

Later on, foster daddy pretended I had a party and hit the bottle – what a very silly foster daddy!

Day 24 – Monday 24 November

Something very strange this morning, the grass is all white, crispy and cold – I love it. Rushed around my garden and rolled about and it was great!

Went through a gate and saw a strange creature staring at me so I jumped back – foster mummy pushed it with her foot and it fell over and didn’t move. Foster mummy said it was a big stone but it looked pretty scary to me!

Sent foster mummy and foster daddy out to do some shopping – they came back after a little while and said I was very very good looking after the house for four hours so I asked for lots of treats.

Day 22 – Sunday 23 November

Settling into a bit of a routine now – nice walk in the morning, a run about in the fields if no-one is around and then I have to parade foster mummy down the High Street – takes a long time because everyone stops to tell me how well I’ve trained foster mummy and isn’t she good.

Getting a bit worried about foster mummy and daddy – occasionally, they still dress me up in my rather fantastic lingerie. Whilst that isn’t too bad, when foster mummy takes it off, she looks at it and tells foster daddy there are no marks and he is very pleased – is that normal???

Talking about lingerie, yesterday I forgot I was wearing it and so did foster mummy. Guess what happened when I asked to go out to the garden for a tinkle (foster mummy calls it “be quick”)? I really don’t like wet knickers – glad no one knows about it!

Yesterday, my special friend Sandy called for a surprise visit – great, I showed Sandy all my toys but Sandy just wanted treats from foster daddy – he’s really easy to extract treats from. Sandy was wearing her special party harness – floosie. Sandy’s mummy said that Sandy had chewed through her play harness, which is like mine – we’re twins when we go out, but I’m extra specially good and haven’t eaten my harness!

This morning I didn’t see my special friends Millie or Bella but I stopped for a chat with Tom who is very very very tiny but with a fluffy tail – I told him I was in charge of tiny people but he didn’t agree.

At lunchtime, some visitors came and they brought a very small baby person who was just half a year old. Lola is nearly one so I looked after the baby person very well – foster mummy said I was very good. As my reward, the baby person dropped food all over the carpet in the room I am not allowed to go in so I helped foster mum to tidy up by eating all the food on the carpet – foster mummy was sort of pleased.

The baby person giggled when I licked her toes – she was quite tasty.

Day 20 – Friday 21 November

Life’s great – plenty of walks and lots and lots of doggy friends and people who all want to fuss me.

Foster mummy is becoming obsessed with me walking really close to her – I must be a really fierce looking guard dog.

A bit more promising these last two days though – foster mummy and daddy can be trusted off the lead for a short while. I need to keep them busy so I run to one of them and collect a treat – I then run to the other one who has escaped and collect another treat. Good fun!

I have found all sorts of exciting things around the house – my secret is to wait until foster mummy or daddy is talking into something in their hand and then I go to all sorts of places. When I find interesting things, I move them somewhere else – foster mummy says I am in the Lolagistics business.

Foster daddy needs to be kept busy so I like to chew the things I find – foster daddy likes to guess what it was before I loved it to bits with my teeth!

Terrible weather this evening, raining very hard so foster mummy is back to dressing me up again – not too keen.

Day 18 – Wednesday 19 November

Feeling good this morning – out for an early walk. Foster mummy needed some training so I took her to the high street and practised close walking. Foster mummy was very good but foster daddy was a complete loss and needs lots of training.

Foster mummy went out for the morning to a place called church but foster daddy doesn’t go because the water boils in the font or so he says. Foster mummy told foster daddy to look after Lola but instead of looking after me, he spent lots of time tapping his box in his den.

I asked to go out in the garden to play and he forgot all about me until he made a cup of coffee and noticed mud all over the floor and all sorts of mayhem in the garden. I had to supervise while foster daddy hoovered up and mopped the floor clean before foster mummy came home.

He thought I was being good and was sleeping but I sneaked upstairs for a little explore where I found some new cuddly toys, which I took downstairs.

Foster daddy was still tapping away when foster mummy came home – she was not very pleased with him and wanted to know why the bird feeders were on the ground and the fat balls gone. Lola didn’t know anything about any fat balls!

Next thing, foster mummy wanted to know why foster daddy had scattered the cuddly toys she had got for some children all over the house – foster daddy had no excuse and Lola didn’t know anything about cuddly toys either!

There was some talk about who was looking after whom but I was far too busy to look after foster daddy!

Day 17 – Tuesday 18 November

Had a day off yesterday recuperating, just lazing about the house making a mess for foster mum to clear up and taking some leisurely walks.  Gave foster mum and dad something to think about – when out for a walk, I suddenly sit down and won’t move for a little while – they don’t have a clue, poor souls!

Today is fantastic, I feel great – ate a huge breakfast and then we went out to the fields. The cow monsters are huge and scary but they leave special yummy treats which foster dad doesn’t like me eating.

Helped foster mummy in the garden – I pruned loads of twigs and sticks and decorated the lawn. Played with my huge buoy friend.

Really on top form on my evening walk, foster daddy said I was a whirling dervish and I rushed to meet all my friends at top speed dragging foster daddy behind me.

Saw the fox people again just before bedtime – they don’t want to play and just run away so I guess they must be up to some mischief. Perhaps I will give them lessons on how to be perfect!

Day 15 – Sunday 16 November

Still feeling a little delicate today but foster mummy did me a very nice breakfast and I ate nearly all of it.

Met my friend Bella the Labrador and we wanted to play but spoilsport foster daddy wouldn’t let me. Bella’s mummy said we can have a good romp when I am better but I wanted to play NOW!

Foster daddy told Bella that she is mentioned in my blog – Bella’s mummy will show Bella as Bella doesn’t have an ipad of her own.

Helped foster mummy make some delicious smells for their food which lasted for ages – foster mummy and foster daddy ate lots and lots and I waited very patiently. Turned the charm on that poor weak foster daddy and he gave me some very delicious extras – he said that I wasn’t supposed to eat that kind of food but it would be OK if I didn’t tell anyone!

We met my friend Sandy who was out with her mummy but again I wasn’t allowed to leap about – I’m not an invalid foster daddy!!

Day 14 – Saturday 15 November

Foster daddy woke me at about 7 this morning – no respect whatsoever for a lady needing her beauty sleep.

Met lots of my doggy friends on our walk but progress slow as everyone wanted to know where I’d been – foster daddy embarrassed me by telling everyone about my private medical treatment, he’s got no discretion whatsoever.

Dr Vet and Dr Matthew were very nice but to be frank, I’m not sure I can recommend Langford as a holiday destination – to be on the safe side, I’m keeping well away from the car for the time being and whatever you do, if anyone offers you an exotic hooter, say no!

Sandy got her mummy to phone and ask how I was and foster mummy told her – embarrassing again! Sandy’s mummy said that Sandy caught a hedgehog and picked it up – not the sort of thing Lola would do (not really)!

I’ve had to take foster mummy and daddy out several times today as they have been slacking whilst I was away – can’t trust them an inch.

Good wheeze – if I don’t eat my food, foster mummy puts something really nice on it for me like scrambled eggs or chicken or fish. Looks like I should be able to exploit my wounded soldier act for ages and ages!

Day 13 – Friday 14 November

Dr Vet told me I could go home today so waiting for foster mummy and daddy to pick me up.

Still waiting.

Still waiting………..

Have they forgotten me already?

Dr Vet and his friend Dr Matthew have looked after me very well but I’ve had enough of my bits being scrutinised, I would like to go home – where are they?

Foster mummy and foster daddy still not here. Time for plan B – I will start a campaign – FREE THE LANGFORD ONE, THE LANGFORD ONE IS INNOCENT!

Just noticed a little sign on the door which says:

“Cat Friendly Clinic” – why?, that’s not what cats are for.

Whoopy do! – They’re here!! Quick thank you to Dr Matthew and Dr Vet but foster daddy keeps talking and talking and talking.

Hooray, we’re on our way. Home at last, toys still there? – check; bed still there? – check: garden still there? – goody, just bursting for a tinkle!

Out for a little walk along streamside, all’s well – back home and relax………..

Day 12 – Thursday 13 November

Still at my country retreat today. On the up side, the weather is not very good and I don’t have to drag foster dad through muddy fields in the rain for his exercise so heaven knows what state he will be in when I go home tomorrow.

My personal staff at Langford have been very attentive. Dr Vet seems very pleased with me and his friend Dr Matthew looks after me lots. Dr Matthew has a Golden Retriever at his home but I think he fancies me rotten – he’s only flesh and blood after all. Come to think of it, if I were Dr Matthew, I would fancy me too!

I hope foster mummy and foster daddy have been looking after my toys properly though they better not chew them to bits – that’s my job.

Day 11 – Wednesday 10 November

Sorry I wasn’t able to send a message yesterday, Dr Vet and his friends have been looking after me and it was all very busy. I asked Dr Vet to tell foster mummy and daddy that I was being looked after very well but was very tired this morning so I think I’ll be staying at the doggy hotel for another day or perhaps two– its good having my personal staff. Foster mummy and foster daddy try very hard but  I’ll need to be on top form if I’m to cope with their funny little ways.

Day 9 – Monday 10 November

Up early this morning – wonder what’s going on? My walk was shorter but we met some different doggy people so all’s not lost.

Stranger and stranger, we went for a ride in the car and arrived at a place called – Langford, lots and lots of very different smells.  Looks an interesting place though and we had a little explore – I was very very very brave when I saw the cow monster that was just lying about.

Foster mummy and daddy took me into a building where I got rather excited with a couple of doggy new acquaintances so we sat down for a rest – they’re a bit ancient really.

A very nice young man that foster mummy and daddy told me about, called Dr Vet invited us into his very sniffy and interesting den – foster mum, dad and Dr Vet chatted. I heard them talking about making me better but I don’t see how you can improve upon perfection!

After a long time, foster mum and dad got up and fussed me, which was very nice, but then they left me with Dr Vet – what on earth is happening?????????????????

Day 8 –  Sunday 9 November

Fantastic – the sun is out so I gobbled my breakfast and dragged foster dad out to the fields. Met my friend Bella the Labrador and we had a good romp – Bella was fast but I was faster, even dragging foster dad behind me (he makes funny wheezy noises when I exercise him!). Bella found a nice stick, which I insisted on sharing but it fell apart.

Whoopy – Sandy has arrived. After greeting Sandy we went for walk, foster mummy said we were both good girls but I think I was gooder. We walked side by side and occasionally chatted – Sandy thinks she’s in charge and told me so but I ignored her. We met lots of people who said we were very beautiful – the discerning people of Thornbury have good taste.

Sandy doesn’t have my fine lingerie to wear indoors – she’s a bit of an exhibitionist!

We went for a walk after lunch to see the soldiers and sailors marching – they were nearly as smart and well behaved as me.

Day 7 –  Saturday 8 November

I thought it was wet yesterday but its even wetter today – my rather fine hairdo ruined in the wind and rain and absolutely plastered in mud. Never mind, foster mummy made me beautiful again as she has all the time in the world and nothing else to do except fuss me.

There’s some kind of plot going on – maybe it’s about a present for my first birthday, which is very soon? I keep hearing foster mum and dad telling people about my ‘exotic hooter’ – don’t know what it is but fairly certain I don’t have one though I think I’m going to see it next week or at least they said we were going to get it fixed.

Day 6 –  Friday 7 November

Thornbury has taken a turn for the worse –  it rained and rained and rained and I got very very very wet.

Spent most of the day moving my toys around the house but I just couldn’t get the arrangement right. I think teddy was the problem so I disembowelled him all over the floor. Foster mummy and daddy picked up all the white stuff – good game so I disembowelled teddy some more to give them something to do.

Foster daddy thought he could have a nap after lunch – the very thought……….. so I nudged him to keep him awake because that’s what he really wanted.

I’m not allowed to get up on the furniture so I have to do it when nobody is looking. Foster daddy fell asleep on the sofa – he looked comfortable and obviously needed to be kept warm so I carefully climbed on him for a nap myself. Foster mummy came in and was very envious of foster daddy so she told him off and shooed me onto the floor – what a tyrant!

Great news – Sandy’s mummy Ellie called. Sandy is coming for a play date on Sunday. Sandy used to live with foster mummy and daddy – we can compare notes, I think I am being short changed on the treats. Foster daddy came in from the garage WITHOUT PAYING me!

Day 5 – Thursday 6 November

Heard some strange noises last night, bangs, whistles and whooshes – didn’t give it much attention and they soon disappeared.

Still keeping foster mum and dad guessing. I like to throw myself down and do a roly-poly in the wet grass – they think I’m very funny but have no idea what I’m up to!

Its really good here in Thornbury – I’ve met lots of new doggy friends who are usually quite nice. My special friends are Millie the Collie who likes to play chase and rough and tumble and Bella the Labrador who is nearly as much fun. Charlie the pensioner Collie is a bit slow now and only walks slowly – I accidentally (on purpose) jumped on him and he fell over!

It’s quite difficult to chat with my new friends when foster mummy has me on her training collar. I guess she needs me to protect her so I walk very close to her though from time to time I try to greet new friends too enthusiastically.

I think foster mummy likes dressing me up – today it was blue bloomers as an alternative to my rather fetching lingerie. Still playing along with her to keep her happy.

Day 4 – Wednesday 5 November

Exciting late night walk yesterday – scary monsters at the end of the drive but foster mum showed me they were ok and called wheely bins. Found a very prickly and smelly ball that moved. Hurt my nose when I nudged it but foster mum said it was ok too and she called it a hedgehog – I think there are more of them in my garden.

Strange world – yesterday I met the sheep people but wasn’t allowed to chase them when they asked me. Today I came across some absolutely HUGE creatures that looked at me and moved towards me. I didn’t want to walk past them but foster mum and dad let me walk between them so the monsters couldn’t get me. Foster mum called them cows but they are really monsters.

The ponies and sheep people are all right, they even left me some tasty snacks but foster dad wouldn’t let me eat them – I expect he wanted them all for himself.

Went to the High Street to look at shops and people, very interesting. On the way home we called on the doggy nurses who fussed me, gave me treats and said I was beautiful – but I knew that anyway. I sat on a contraption – foster mummy said I was 20kg whatever that is but I definitely heard foster dad say that I must have more food – yummy.

Note from foster family.

Lola has her first appointment at Langford Veterinary Hospital on Monday 10 November. For those of faith, a prayer that all goes well for this super little lady will be very welcome as will the good wishes from the rest of us.

Day 2 – Monday 3 November

Slept well last night until foster dad woke me this morning – he seemed very pleased to see me so I gave him lots of my toys. There was a small damp patch in my bed – don’t know who did that but no problem as foster dad and foster mum didn’t seem to notice.

Looks like foster dad needs lots of exercise so I took him out to the fields – he’s a bit slow but I made him keep up by towing him on a rope. We saw some sheep people who wanted me to chase them but foster dad asked me to sit and watch them instead. Once you’ve seen one sheep person nibbling grass, you’ve seen them all so we decided to walk some more and left the sheep people alone.

Foster mummy gave me a present – some rather fetching “lingerie”! I expect that I look really fantastic and when I wear it, I can go wherever I want in my foster home.

Day 1 – Sunday 2 November

Busy day today – went for lots of rides in different cars and I particularly liked being driven by a chauffeur and travelling in comfort on the back seat, accompanied by my maid, Belinda.

Eventually I arrived at my new foster home in Thornbury – toys everywhere.

Early days yet but so far so good. Foster mum keeps grooming me and trimmed the fur on my toes. Foster dad is a push over, a real sucker for a beautiful blond – he’s like a mobile treat machine, all I need is a cute look, nudge on his pocket or pretty much anything and out pops a treat.

I suspect foster mum and dad believed those people telling tales about me, thought that I might be a little boisterous on the lead – but I fooled them, walked close for foster mum and didn’t drag foster dad all over the field when he used my new harness and long lead. No point in revealing too much about me whilst I’m casing the joint.
