Marley Martin

A VERY HANDSOME RED BOY

Marley was approximately 2yrs old when rescued.

His fosterer said ” Marley has settled in vey well. He is a big softie and loves to sit on my knees. He sleeps with my old coat for comfort. He is a bit nervous but very loving”.

Grooming: He had to be washed and did well in the bath. When Susan went to brush him, he cried like a baby so she had to sit on the ground to reassure him that he would be ok, at which point he put his head on her shoulder He is great with children.

Lead walking: Marley loves his walks with his harness on and doesn’t pull. When told, he waits when crossing the road. He is good when meeting other dogs.

NEW HOME UPDATE (19.3. 2015)

Jan, Marley’s new mum, tells us “We picked up Marley yesterday from the two lovely ladies. He is lovely and travelled back lying across my sister’s lap.

He was very hyper when he arrived. We introduced him to Wesley and took them for a short walk. He pulls a lot but, today, I am getting a long training lead so he will have freedom to roam about on a walk and I can begin to get him used to walking properly on the lead and learning a recall.

He slept on his bed in our bedroom as the cats have to come through the cat flaps into the kitchen. He is very interested in the cats and has jumped up at them. Two have stood their ground but my young one is not so brave.

It is all very new for him. He has been from pillar to post in the last months and probably doesn’t know if he is on his head or his heels at the moment.

Today, Marley has been for his walk and, at the moment, is chilling on the rug with his ball trying to keep his eyes open in case he misses something. I will try and have a calm day with him now because I think he is worn out, bless him.

Alan thinks he is really lovely, my sister thinks he is gorgeous and my brother-in-law remarked what a nice tempered dog he seems to be”.

FURTHER UPDATE (14.4.2015)

Jan says “Just a short update on Marley. He is settling very well. Although we still have good days and bad days, there are many more good than bad.

I had a break through yesterday with his separation anxiety. I left him at home for an hour and three quarters Alan was in the area so he popped in and let both dogs out. All was quiet when he arrived home. I came back at 1pm and, again, all was well. We did move all things he might have destroyed but there were no signs of damage anywhere.

My sister said, when we were in Australia and Wesley our dog stayed with her, he seemed to be a very calming influence on Annie, her then new rescue, and, by the time we came back, Annie had stopped jumping around and barking. Wesley is laid back and generally chilled out and content with his lot so my sister is wondering if Wes has had a word with Marley!!

We are off to dog training for some one to one sessions on Thursday and Friday so that will be another step forward for Marley”
