Marley

Marley is a stunning, petite, 6 year old neutered, vaccinated male Golden Retriever from Northern Ireland.

UPDATE FROM HIS FOREVER HOME (22.6.2016)

Marley’s forever dad,Tony, sent us this update from Scotland “Well, we have had Marley now for 14 weeks here in Troon and he has settled very well with us.

He is very affectionate and is a ‘funny’ dog with some of his ways. He stands on his two back legs in the kitchen and almost has a ‘chat’ with us, his front paws on the kitchen worktops.

If we are at the front of the house outside, he stands on the step and gives us a little ‘woof, woof’ but he makes no attempt to not run off. It’s just a playful reminder that he is around and not to forget him.

He’s absolutely great with me outside. I can let him off the lead on the grass (away from the road), and he runs around me in great circles and sometimes lies down away from me like a sheepdog. When I call or whistle him, he races towards me and then continues running around me in big circles before lying down again awaiting my call. When I think he is getting tired, I call him again, and call him to my feet and sure enough he races to me and the lies down on my shoes!

The grandchildren love to play with him. Marley is a great dog with us and he appears to be a very happy dog”.

Heather, who rescued and fostered him, wrote: “This is so good to hear. Marley certainly knows where he belongs. I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.

HISTORY

He is a little overweight, a bit smelly and hasn’t been walked for months as his owner, sadly, passed away in October. Her sons took over the ownership of him but really didn’t have the time to devote to him as their Mum had done for her beloved boy so they handed him over to IRR so we could find Marley the perfect home.

PERSONALITY
He is a beautiful, sweet boy who settled well into life with his fosterer. He is a gentle laid back soul who simply wants a little bit of affection.

SOCIAL LEARNING

LEAD WALKING and RECALL: Both need a bit of work. In foster, he is being walked twice a day for an hour each time so Heather is hoping to see a big difference in him over the next couple of weeks. She won’t let him off the lead as his recall isn’t brilliant but she is working on that.
GROOMING: He has had his ears cleaned and his claws clipped with no problems.
Heather has also feathered his tail, hocks and ears with ease.
FOOD: Marley is not food aggressive or possessive
CHILDREN: Heather would have no hesitation in rehoming him with children as he is definitely not a bouncy dog.
DOGS: He seems to get on really well with all other dogs and had no problems with the other dogs that were with Heather, her two and a wee red Cocker Spaniel house guest.
CATS: Marley is great with cats .

MARLEY’S DREAM HOME
Marley is a fabulous dog who just needs a home where he will get love and attention. He could be homed as an only dog or with others. All in all, he has a super nature and just needs a little bit of work on recall and lead walking to make him into the perfect dog.

MARCH 2016

Marley is now living in his wonderful forever home in Scotland.
