Max Rodd

MAX HAS THE MOST AMAZING FOREVER HOME (MAY 2019)

Max has also struck lucky and has fallen firmly on all four paws by being adopted by Vicky and Jim and their two lovely little boys, Joseph and Sam. Of course, they can never replace their beloved Hugo but they are all looking forward to a wonderful new set of memories being created and we are pretty sure that Hugo would thoroughly approve of the latest addition tohis family.

Jim tells us, “As you can imagine, things are a little hectic !! We have decided to call him Max now rather than Buddy which he didn’t seem to respond to”.

Although Sandra (Hugo’s fosterer way back in 2006) had a wonderful blind rescued Collie called Buddy who crossed Rainbow Bridge in 2010, she thinks Max is a great name as it brings back lovely memories to her of a dog she used to know in Holland.

As you can see from the photos, Max seems to be settling well and making himself at home. He is lucky enough to have an enormous garden in which to run and play so he is probably dreaming about all the fun he is going to have there with the children.

Jim continued “Max is very affectionate and a fine looking dog, although pretty strong. I think the estimate for him is around 3yrs old but I wouldn’t be surprised if he is a bit younger than this. He is getting on pretty well and is, generally, sleeping through the night.

I think, we’re getting on top of the marking by ushering him outside with lots of praise etc. He has a wonderful nature and has shown no sign of aggression, with food or anything else but he definitely needs some training. We have concluded he has no recall yet and is understandably overwhelmed with smells on walks so pulls a lot and is very(!) interested in all the local animals.

Thank you very much for the training articles which are a useful reminder. We used clicker training on Hugo and it was quite successful but we need some refresher tips on training. We have met a local trainer, who seems to be very good, so we will have several sessions over the next few weeks. We are going back to basics with Max and will build up from there”.

Sandra and Pauline are very much looking forward to hearing about Max’s progress and, of course, to seeing loads of pics of Max and his family.

UPDATE ON MAX’S PROGRESS

Max has now been off on his holidays in the Brecon Beacons and, clearly, loves it as much as Hugo used to do

HISTORY

Max (then called Buddy) is a beautiful, now neutered, Irish, Golden Retriever Cross who was 3 years old in 2019. Having had his veterinary examination and rabies vaccination, he spent a couple of weeks in kennels awaiting his move to the UK.

This wonderful, handsome and friendly boy adores children and, according to his fosterer, seems to be devoid of any real vices. How lucky are the family who have been chosen to adopt him?
