McKenzie Seal

McKENZIE is a black labrador who is just over a year old now. He is castrated, vaccinated and microchipped. He has lived happily with a cat and an 11yr old child but will probably be too boisterous for a tiny one. He is a big, handsome boy who appears to have had little socialisation.

When he was with his fosterer, Denise, she said “He is a bit nervous at the moment, I don’t think he has ever seen another dog in his life so he is in at the deep end here :))) He loves men and won’t leave Phil or Mike alone. I also don’t think the poor boy knows what a lead is, he acts like a young pup on the lead, he will either sit and not move or pull like a trooper”.

UPDATE ON McKENZIE

McKenzie is such a sweetie. He is house trained, and has learned the basic training already.

He has slowly overcome his fear of other dogs. He gets on really well with children and doesn’t bother at all with cats. He even met a loose horse at the weekend went up very slowly to say “hello” and didn’t seem bothered with it at all after that.

His recall is getting there too, he is so quick to learn, he is so eager to please.

Unfortunately he isn’t a perfect dog, he does need a lot of lead training, he finds it great fun to jump up and try and grab the lead out your hand, and mouths you at the same time. He will also try to bite a fabric lead so he is on chain lead at the moment. Also, like most labs, he has a love for food and he will try and steal food at any cost, so he is having to learn that this is unacceptable.

However, overall, he is a wonderful pup who will make a fantastic pet with an experienced owner who is prepared to spend time on his training.

UPDATE ON MAC FROM HIS FOREVER HOME

Mac is getting along brilliantly. He finally settled on Richard’s bed after rearranging the bedroom and making out with the pillows. Yesterday, they met up with his new cousins (2 labs Jess and Dyson) and got on famously. They went swimming but Richard kept him a long line.

Everyone thinks he is gorgeous.
