Millie Franklin

In 2008, beautiful MILLIE was a 9mth old spayed Labrador bitch who was no longer wanted by her family. She went into foster with Jane and family in Worcestershire.

INITIAL REPORT

Jane says “Millie only arrived 48 hours ago and has settled in very well. She is very sweet natured but seems quite strong willed so, although she understands the word “NO!” she does not always take notice.

She loves her food and everyone else’s and will steal food of the work surface given the opportunity. If she can get at any clothes she will pull them onto the floor and sleep on them. At the moment she appears to be house trained with no accidents yet.

Her recall is excellent (well 90% of the time and as long as you have got some treats to make it worth her while!). I have not seen any signs of her being an escape artist yet.

She sits on command, walks OK on a lead but could do with more training.

Millie follows our own Labrador, Tess, everywhere. (Millie is the lighter colour one)

Millie is great travelling in the car. She met the scouts in the wood yesterday and enjoyed them all giving her some fuss.

She seems fine with our three cats, as long as they stay still, and has met lots of other dogs and seems quite happy in their company.”

UPDATE FROM HER FOREVER HOME

Milie’s name tag arrived and has been duly fitted for which she is thankful.

There has been some confrontation with Jack (our Bedlington), but this mainly jealously on the part of both dogs and establishing who is to be top dog. It’s a lot of noise but it’s becoming less frequent. Both our cats were disgusted and only came in for food at first, but Missy the youngest has taken a stand and put Millie in her place.

Having said that, Millie and Jack love going out together in the car and seem to enjoy one another’s company.
We have no problem leaving them in the car whilst we shop.

We have arranged a Dog Training course for Millie, starting Monday 7th July. Millie is getting very confident now as a member of the family. She now walks and runs off the lead at the Meadows and had her first swim today and is having her second training class tonight.

Her only fault is that she is a terrible counter top thief in fact she is an expert at it.

REPORT FROM ROSA

Last week I had Millie staying with me just for the day. She is really lovely but it is like having a toddler around the house, as soon as you are not looking she is up to no good. Here are some photos that I took of her that day – Millie at the river with Kelly and posing with her friends in my garden.”
