Millie

Age: 3 and a half

Sex: Female, spayed

History

Millie was surrendered to IRR by her owners who didn’t have time to look after her properly. She was left to her own devices in the garden and got into the habit of escaping.

Personality:
Millie has a wonderful golden retriever personality. She loves a fuss and especially loves a tummy tickle.

Millie is fully house trained. She loves her food but is not food possesive. Millie has few basic commands, she knows her name and can sit. She is very bright and interested and should do well with further training.

Millie has been left for short periods, she will cry for a couple of minutes then settles. We believe that the company of another dog helps her to be calm.

Her general health seems good, she has lovely clean teeth. Her coat was in poor condition when she arrived but after a bit of TLC she looks a lot better. She very much enjoyed the attention of being groomed. She does have a very thick coat so weill need regular attention to keep this in great condition.

Millie loves a walk but is slightly overweight so will need regular exercise and a strict food plan to get her to the right size. She pulls initially on walks but is not overly strong, after a few minutes she settles and is happy to walk next to you.

She is full of life and will make the most wonderful new family member.

Millie’s Dream Home:
Millie will be best placed with another dog, where she will have adequate exercise every day, both to bring her weight under control as well as to provide adequate stimulation and ensure she will relax and enjoy her home and garden environment without attempting to escape.

Behaviour with other animals:
Millie is great with the other dog in her foster home. She is interested in other dogs on walks but does not pull towards them. She has not been tested with cats or other small animals.
