Osca Morgan

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

BEAUTIFUL OSCA DEPARTED ON 25.9.2020

On Sunday, 27th September, Kate wrote to tell us her darling Osca had crossed Rainbow Bridge on Friday night (25.9.2020) to be with Rubi and Cookie.

She said he had continued to get weaker and had started to collapse. They had tried various foods to tempt him to eat but he just couldn’t take it.

Lynne and Pauline tried to reassure Kate that she had done the right thing (as always) by saying, “You couldn’t let him go on like that. You loved him too much. Pain is the price we pay for love, both the unconditional love they have for us and our great love for them.

You LISTENED to him and you put his needs above yours. It is so tempting to hang on just a little too long but it is far better for them to say “goodbye” a week too early than a day, even an hour, too late”.

It had been on 22nd July that Kate had written to Lynne and Pauline to tell them “We are an only dog household currently as we lost a fur baby 8 weeks ago to cancer so poor Osca is back on his lonesome.

We’re having problems with persuading him to eat, at the moment. It’s all rather strange. The vet said there’s nothing physically wrong, he’s, simply, grieving for his and our loss.

We’ve tried a ‘pet remedy plug-in which releases a calming fragrance and this seemed to work for a couple of days but no longer. He’s also not sitting with us much although he does come for a fuss sometimes.

We’re trying chicken, feeding him by hand. I’ve read that meaty baby food may be an option.  It’s not like we’ve recently changed foods”.

Having experienced similar situations in the past, Pauline did say she thought everything was 100% down to grief and warned Kate to be prepared as some dogs will pine so much that they pass over themselves soon after the loss of a friend (human or animal).

Flower essences were tried but sometimes things just aren’t meant to be so, with a heavy heart, the final “goodbyes” had to be said.

OSCA AND RUBI ARRIVED IN AUGUST 2017

Having had to say “goodbye” to IRR Milly on 6.4.2017 after almost 8yrs, it was not long after that when Floyd followed her, not unexpectedly, to the Bridge.

Rubi and Osca had been a breath of fresh air in an otherwise very sad household.

Kate told us “Rubi was cheeky and enjoyed Andrew’s coffee. She helped herself to that and anything else she fancied. She loved her food and we loved her so much.

Rubi and Osca were partners, racing off across the fields, flushing pheasants, tails waving like flags. This was largely lead by Rubi. They had arrived in August 2017 and Rubi was with us for 8 months before we lost her in April 2018. Poor Osca missed his sister so much”.

Cookie joined the family in December 2018. Kate remembered “When we went to Hampshire to pick her up, we had to put the two dogs in the back for the journey. We opened the car door, bearing in mind Cookie was 10yrs old and I thought I might have had to help her in but “no”, she threw herself in like a sack of spuds.

Well, we thought, she’s in then. She came back and was on her back with her leggies in the air and then promptly fell asleep.

She was then like a shadow. There was no privacy, she’d whack the bathroom door open and plonk herself down. I’m sure she thought the bathroom mat was for her benefit.

She loved chasing tennis balls and going for a ride in the car. Cookie had a cancerous lump removed successfully but then developed another which, unfortunately, made her very sick. We lost her at the end of May 2020”.

“Osca was very lost on his own and the lack of interest in food was very apparent within a month. He went from a happy boy, chasing tennis balls, jumping on the bed, barking at cyclists or joggers (he wasn’t keen on those) to a quiet boy, spending all day outside asleep.

We tried many things to encourage him to eat something but he wanted to go and so he left us on 25th September.

Although Rubi and Cookie never met, we know all three will be together now at Rainbow Bridge, well and happy and all playing like mad”.

Fly with the other dog angels Osca and have loads of fun with Rubi and Cookie.
