Gone to Rainbow Bridge

MY BEAUTIFUL BOY IS GONE

(25-12- 2006 to 1-1- 2019)

On 1 st January 2019, Caroline told us “My beautiful boy has gone. His poor old body just couldn’t cope with everything the last few days has put it through and he lost his fight at four o’clock this morning. Run free, my darling, darling boy. You have earned your place at Rainbow Bridge and you take with you my love to light your way and to keep our bond forever. I will miss you for the rest of my life. Paddy joined the world on Christmas Day 2006 and bowed out on New Year’s Day 2019. I pledge to keep his memory alive and to honour his wish to continue to help IRR as much as possible.

I hope that everyone will welcome Theo, who is Paddy’s chosen successor and who has been taught exactly what to do by the master himself. I’m touched and thrilled that people are donating to IRR in Paddy’s name. That is the best legacy he could leave.

Thank you all for your support, it means the world to me, even though I cry again every time I read a new message! Every single dog is precious, Paddy merely found his voice and used it to promote that fact and, for as long as IRR continues to save the helpless, he will live on.

THE NEXT WORDS ARE PADDY’S

“If you is readin’ this then I will have already left you to go to Rainbow Bridge and my mum has followed my request to post this on Facebook on my behalf.

I doesn’t want you to be sad but my old body was very tired and sore and I had had enough of draggin’ it around. I gave it my best shot but I was just too tired of fightin’. I needs to feel young and carefree again, so I is goin’ to join all your beloved dogs who has gone ahead and I am takin’ all your love & good thoughts with me to give to them. I knows I will be safe and very well cared for and although I will miss my mum and my family and all of you, it’s my time.

Thank you for allowin’ me into your lives, I has loved being Head of Marketin’ for IRR and without them, my life would have been so very different.

Because of them I has had a good few years of love and being happy and boy, was I happy! So many, many dogs needs help and I am proud to have played my part. I am passing my baton to young Theo. He’s a bit of an idiot but he means well and I have told him all my stories and taught him how to be an upstandin’ member of the IRR community. Lexie is too scatty to be trusted to play her part properly, she’d just eat everythin’. I love them both, mind you, but I is just not blind to their shortcomin’s.

So, goodbye for now, and it is just for now, because we will all meet again, that I promises you. I is pretty sure the Chronicler will pass by one day to tell you all that I is doin’ fine and to bring you reassurance that death is just another doorway we has to pass through.

Please look after my mum, she has been here for me every step of the way and will have been by my side as I made ready for my journey. She will be takin’ it very badly but she will have done her absolute best for me and she will have understood that I needed her to let me go.

Goodbye my friends, until we meet again”

HISTORY

In 2013, Paddy was 6 years old He was a big and beautiful neutered boy with a wonderful curly coat. He had been living in a family with two teenagers but, unfortunately, his family were no longer able to give Paddy the time he needed.

Personality:
Paddy has been largely left to his own devices in recent years and is in need of some training and a steady hand. He is not very familiar with other dogs but
seems to be OK with females.

He is a beautiful big boy and so is quite strong on his lead. He adores his walks and loves swimming.

Paddy is very friendly and loves attention including being groomed. He needs to be trained properly to take food calmly from your hand. We are sure he will respond well to consistent positive training.

Paddy’s Dream Home:
Paddy would like an active home where he will get plenty of exercise and stimulation. Ideally his new owner would take him to training classes where he can learn how to behave properly. He is quite strong, so he would prefer a home without young children.

Behaviour with other animals:
Paddy is unfamiliar with other dogs but with correct socialisation we believe he will be fine.
He is not good with cats.
