Poppy Goldsmith

ANOTHER BALKAN LADY NEEDING SANCTUARY

Not much was known about this lovely girl. She was abandoned & found on the streets in the Balkans. We thought she was approximately 9 years. She was spayed and with Pet Passport in paw came to the UK

FOSTER ASSESSMENT

Poppy went into foster in Dorset.

Her fosterer said of her Poppy is a friendly girl who is very playful for her age. She is good with other dogs & cats but is nervous of moving cars because of her background. Poppy would love to be in a family home with other dogs. She has had a traumatic time and a lady of her age deserves love, security and happiness.

FURTHER UPDATE FROM POPPY’S FOSTER HOME (5.12.2014)

Social Learning
Poppy doesn’t understand any commands but she is pretty easy & compliant. She is not toy or food possessive. Housetraining is still a work in progress. She travels very well and is good on the lead, just pulling a bit

General Health
After a much needed bath on her 1st day, she went for a general health check with our vet who was very pleased with her, considering her background and age.

She is a bit stiff in the hips and underweight, having had multiple litters of pups, so she is being fed high protein puppy food & fresh meat.

Poppy is changing daily. She was very passive & subservient but is becoming more confident & has more of a sense of belonging. She is still quite nervous and doesn’t like noise. She is very friendly with people & animals and is feeling more accepted by other dogs.

She suffered with huge separation anxiety but is now happier to rest & sleep away from us more. She is now exploring the garden on her own.

Poppy no longer acts like a 9yr old. She can be playful, is more alert has more energy & can race around the garden like a 3yr old. She is loyal & just wants to be loved.
