Ralphie

July 2020

Ralph has gone to his Forever Home.

History

Ralphie arrived in his foster home in Scotland at the beginning of March. IRR has been asked by another rescue in Ireland if we could help this boy as he has continued to display “fear reactivity” towards other dogs while on the lead which has made him difficult to re-home, despite the best efforts put in by his Irish foster family.

He is now in foster with 5 resident dogs and his rehabilitation will begin after a few days rest and chilling out for this lovely lad.

Fosterer’s Update May 2020

Our 8-year-old “troubled” Golden Retriever boy! As you can see Ralphie is coming along brilliantly in his foster home. He is the dog on the right on the first pic and at the back on the second.

Fosterer’s Update July 2020

He has been living happily in his foster home with six resident dogs since before lockdown and we now think he is ready to move on to his forever home.

Ralphie is not aggressive but he is “reactive” which means he can happily live with dogs in his forever home (after careful introductions and a settling in period), but its more than likely he will “react” when he meets new dogs when out and about. Despite his reactivity, Ralphie is not a fighter (his reaction is probably fear based) and any dog that turns to tell him off for his antisocial behaviour usually sends him running for home!

Ralphie’s perfect home would be in a rural area where he wouldn’t be meeting lots of dogs on a regular basis. A confident resident dog or dogs would really help him feel secure and help when meeting the odd dog out and about. Last of all Ralphie is looking for an adopter who is committed to helping him be the best he can be…. as he has tried his very best but he’s just not that perfect!
