RIPPLE’S LATEST NEWS (JULY 2015)

Ripple says “I’m having a great time here in Farrington Gurney (I think I landed on my feet)!

I went on holiday a few weeks ago and stayed with Aunty Sallie for a week while Mum and Dad went to a place called Italy.  It was great.  I got thoroughly spoilt and put on loads of weight.  Unfortunately, though, I had to get it off again when my parents came back.         Mum and Dad are going to a wedding soon and, guess what, I’m going on holiday again. This time, I will be staying with a friend of Mum’s who has got a Goldie. I’m not that keen on her really, as she is a bit pushy, but I have been promised to sleep on the bed with Mum’s friend so how cool is that?

I’m getting better at this playing thing now. I had never been very used to it before but I do like to play on my own.  You know, running around with Mum’s shoes, taking them up the garden and leaving them to get soaking wet during the night. I find it quite funny seeing her get a bit mad, so I just race round and round her feet. I think Mum and Dad have been a bit deceived about me being quiet and good, as I have shown them that I am really quite a live wire.

Mum got a bit cross with me today as we were down at Aunty Sallie’s and I kept running away from her, going round and round the caravans and playing hide and seek. It was very good fun and I really kept her on the go. I don’t know who was most pooped afterwards, her or me?  Come to think of it, it was actually her:)))

Well, that’s all my latest news. I hope to catch up again soon but, for the time being, I’m sending lots and lots of hugs and kisses luv Ripple xxxx ”

HISTORY

Ripple is a spayed female American Labrador Retriever who was 4 years old in 2014. She was surrendered by her family due to a house move and the family were unable to take her with them.

FOSTER ASSESSMENT

Ripple is affectionate and very obedient. She loves to play fetch with her ball and swim. She is excellent on and off lead. She gets on well with other dogs and is non aggressive with cats although she will sometimes chase them.

RIPPLE’S DREAM HOME

Ripple would love to find a home with an active family who will enjoy playing with her and taking her for walks and swims.

GREAT NEWS (November 2014)

Ripple went to her Forever Home.

UPDATE FROM RIPPLE’S FOREVER HOME 11/11/2014

June, her new Forever Mum, tells us “Ripple has settled really well and you would think that she has always been with us. We have left her for short spells to see what she is like and, although not too keen on being left, she was very welcoming when we returned.  We have taken her across the grounds and let her run a bit and she comes back after one call.  She is excellent and very fast! When I take her up the road in the mornings she’s fine but on the way back she goes really quickly as she can’t wait to get her breakfast.”

Apparently, Ripple is good with the little female grandchildren but she wasn’t very keen on June and Rob’s grandson, who is 14 years old and has a mouth full of metal due to braces, which Ripple found a bit scary. All round, they think she’s a lovely little girl but she has also got some spirit.  She barks at visitors, especially the window cleaners, which can only be a good thing in this day and age, and she can have the odd growl at overly friendly dogs!  Her bottom is definitely sacrosanct.

Although Ripple is fine with them, she isn’t really too keen on interaction with other dogs.  June says “When I took her to my friend’s house, she growled constantly at Kelsey and flatly refused to play with her.  It was quite sad really as Kelsey is such a softie (Goldie of course) and stood waiting patiently with a toy in her mouth but Ripple was having none of it.  Maybe she might come around to it? but it’s not the end of the world if she doesn’t.”

Ripple, no doubt, is still finding her paws and, hopefully, once she realises Kelsey is no threat, she will make a good friend. She did really well when she had a meet with some of the other local IRR dogs including the McAvoy clan and Gizmo Jefferey. Clearly, Ripple is another very lucky dog who has a wonderful life ahead of her.

FURTHER UPDATE ON RIPPLE 21/11/2014

In her own words, Ripple said “I think mum and dad have been a bit surprised with me.  I don’t think they realised how fast I can run and now I have, unfortunately, bruised one of my front paws running after the ball.  Silly me!  I have to say, it’s quite boring as mum and dad are only taking me around the houses at present to give my paw a chance to rest.  I’m quite happy with mum and dad, though, and I do love going out in the car.  I accompany Florence home to her house on Tuesdays and get thoroughly spoilt by her mum and dad although I did get a ticking off last Tuesday as I stole Florence’s milk! Ooooops.

I have settled into my new home beautifully and have met all sorts of dogs although, I have to be honest, I’m not really bothered about them but I am looking forward to the Paws Walk and to meeting Sprocket as we can be new kids on the block together. I’m sorry to hear Georgie has been banned for previous bad behaviour and I can see how crowds can unsettle him. I’m sure he is far better more one to one and I know he won’t miss out cos he will just have his run at a different time. To be honest, he didn’t really bother me that much after a bit and, as mum and dad have told me, I need to get used to all sorts of things as sometimes life is not all ball play and bones”.
