Sadie Crofton

Gone to Rainbow Bridge

Sad News 25th July 2022

And all too soon, poor Kathryn is left heartbroken again. Her beloved Sadie left for the bridge today (25th July 2022) to meet her brothers and sisters.

Please hold Kathryn in your prayers, even a heart as big as hers can only break so many times.

History

Sadie is a stunning 6 year old female pure bred Golden Retriever.  She is cream, almost white, in colour with a loving personality, and like most Goldens, very affectionate.  This wonderful girl has received all the vaccinations necessary, has already been spayed and will be groomed before going to her forever home. Sadie was relinquished by her owner and was an only dog.   She was with them from the time she was a 6 week old pup.

What can we say about gorgeous Sadie? She is very easy to walk on lead and has superb recall.  She is extremely talkative in the morning, dying to greet you with a wagging tail, a growl and a whoop-de-do. She can’t wait to tell you what she has been up to.

She loves her ball and playing with other dogs. She is a country girl at heart and loves running free and playing ball or simply smelling and sniffing and checking things out. Sadie is also a water-baby, and loves running in and out of water, so a home on the coast near the beach would be perfect and one with access to long walks in a big park or with forests would be wonderful so that they can get lots of exercise which would be the icing on the cake.

Sadie has since learned what ‘bedtime’ means and now takes treats very gently whereas before she would grab them out of your hand. IRR promised the owners that we would get her a fabulous home. Sadie is a wonderful dog and has fitted in well with Kathryn, our Ireland co-ordinator’s pack. Sadie is accepted in the pack and has made herself ‘Queen Bee’ where the other laid back dogs, Laurel and Hardy, (Charlie, honorary IRR Rescue – 2008) (Angel (2011), Buddy (2016) – IRR,  have made her feel so welcome.

She is a fantastic girl and she deserves a home where she can be spoiled and loved and where she can live out her life in comfort and love. It is always wise to feed dogs separately especially when they aren’t used to each other. She is food possessive to a degree but now will let Kathryn add food to her dish without worrying that she will take it away from her.

A Happy Easter Ending – April 2017

There is someone for everyone so the saying goes, there are five, now six Goldens for Kathryn, but that is the limit, Kathryn says. After losing Jasper, her 19 year old black cat and Mikey, a stray who had had back surgery and who had to be put down the same day, it was a gloomy time. However, it is always darkest before the dawn and now Sadie has waltzed into their lives to brighten them. It will be bright for a long time to come. Sadie has joined the clan and will be loved and cared for, for the rest of her life, another success story for IRR.
