GOODBYE TO DAD’S SPECIAL BOY (6.6.2016)

It is with great sadness that we heard today of the passing of Ian’s special boy, Sam, who must have been about 13yrs.

After a short illness, he went peacefully to Rainbow Bridge this morning to be reunited with his Bernese Mountain Dog sisters Jilly May, who passed over Rainbow Bridge in August 2010, and Tascha who joined her in January 2015.

He will be very much missed by his dad, Ian, his mum, Lynne and his Golden Retriever sisters Lola and Gemini.

He was one of the very first dogs over from Ireland when IRR was set up in 2005 and, as such, he was always regarded as an honorary Golden Retriever.

At the 2011 Reunion he swept the board of prizes taking away THE SHANNON MEMORIAL AWARD and SPECIAL ROSETTE, the BEST IRR WORKING TOGETHER DOG and to cap it all, to the delight of all present, he was awarded  BEST IN SHOW 2011 by a well known local vet.

Life started tough for you, Sam, but that all changed when Sandie fought to save you and when you were fostered then adopted by Lynne and Ian. They gave you a wonderful life and a dignified and peaceful end. You will never be forgotten.

Fly high with all the other IRR dog angels, Sam.

HISTORY

Although a GSD cross, Sam first made himself at home with Sandie. He then came over to the UK to live with Lynne and Ian and their BMD, Jilly May. He has since helped to make foster dogs, like Belle, welcome in his home

and now he has many doggy friends
