Samson Wright

BARNABY, FOSTER BROTHER EXTRAORDINAIRE, TELLS THE STORY OF THE FIRST DAY OF SAMSON’S LIFE IN HIS FOREVER HOME ( 25 October 2019)

Foster Brother Barnaby reporting … I AM THE LUCKIEST BOY IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!! You’ll never ever guess what happened yesterday! Whoop! The bestest thing ever!

Dad went our early, earlier than early and he took some IRR Blankets with him … . we all know what that means! It means we’re going to have a new foster brother or a new foster sister! Hurrah!

Me and Bill and Ben and Delilah were all excited, wondering what was going to happen! and when it happened, I was so so surprised I couldn’t even shout! Imagine Barnaby Wright without his bark! Eeek!! I was silent, not even a squeak could I make! But I know what happened was so special it would be enough to take anyone’s woof away!

Dad came home with not one, and not two, and not three but yes four, yes FOUR teeny weeny IRR puppies!…. and the IRR blankets because he said he was so excited he forgot to give them to everyone else! Sigh!

Yep, We had FOUR baby Golden Retrievers in our house. Yippee! And double yippee! Four little Golden puppies running round and playing and leaking a bit. Gulp. But we didn’t mind we had the bestest of best times.

Before long, Brody went home with his new mum and dad and Siani went home with her mum ….. hooray!

Then mum said we are going to look after baby Duke because his new mum and dad can’t pick him up for a few days …. but …. I counted and thought that means one little puppy was left. So Bill and Ben counted and then Delilah counted and sure enough there was one little Golden boy left. One little Golden boy who had a yellow collar on, just like I had when I was a baby … gulp … and mum said “Barnaby, Bill, Ben and Delilah – meet your new little brother! Hurrah! I got my woof back pretty quickly!

Little Samson is coming to live with us forever! Whoop!! My very, very own little brother! My very own forever little brother! Hooray!!

So I feel like I’m dreaming because I’m a new Forever Brother forever and a Foster Brother for little bit of time. Grin!! How lucky are we! Hoorah!

SAMSON IS ALREADY AN EXPERIENCED FOSTER BROTHER

From a very tender age, Samson became a Foster Brother, hoping to follow in the giant pawsteps of Barnaby, his new big brother.

His sibling, Duke, needed fostering for a few days until his Forever Folks had returned from their very special Silver Wedding Anniversary holiday and were able to make the long journey up to Norfolk from Kent to meet their new baby.

This turned out to be perfect as the boys helped each other get used to the world of monster sized, albeit very friendly, Golden Retrievers. It meant they could continue with baby play and adorable baby cuddles.

Barnaby said”Samson and Duke like to play together. A lot. Sob. But Mum says they’ll soon play with me and Delilah and we can have lots of fun. Having two puppies in the house means more than more treats. Yippee! and lots of training. Double yippee and too many photos. Boo!”

“Mum found Delilah’s baby harness and it fits Samson so after the postman brings Duke’s harness and collects the blankets dad forgot to give to the other puppies (sigh!) we’re going out! Out to explore the Broads and the beaches. I’m going to teach Samson everything I know about being a Foster Brother because, one day, he’ll be welcoming new IRR dogs into the family himself”.

OTHER FOSTER DOGS SOON FOLLOWED

Another foster brother was the gorgeous Elvis in January 2020

SAMSON and ELVIS

FAMILY PICS WERE TO CONTINUE AS SAMSON GREW AND GREW

Here he is posing proudly with Barnaby, Delilah, Bill and Ben and with Woody when he came to play one day.

Samson was a great one for investigating and, of course, he still loved to chill out after a hard day.

SAMSON OFTEN GETS TO PLAY WITH HIS SIBLINGS

One such day was 5th January 2020. Louise said “We had a lovely stroll on the beach – surrounded by twitchers – as a very rare feathered visitor had been blown off its migration course and ended up on the cliffs at Happisburgh!

Luckily Delilah, Samson and Barnaby were on their best behaviour, as were Darragh, Niamh, Toby and Brodie Gibson and Boo, Gracie and Brax Dine. Lillie Smith is always perfect.

Watching these guys frolic in the surf was incredibly special because, without IRR, seven of these Goldens wouldn’t have been here today. Biggest thanks must go to everyone who supports us in what ever way.

All three pups were beautifully behaved when we went for lunch – anyone would think we spend lots of time in cafes!”

Lots of doggy play is involved in and out of the water followed by yummy treats and then human socialising at the cafe.
