SANDI’S HISTORY

Sandi and Summer are 9 and 7 years old respectively. These two lovely ladies were surrendered together due to a change in family circumstances. Both dogs are extremely over-weight and this will need to be addressed and carefully managed in their future home.

FOSTERER’S INITIAL REPORT – FEB 2012

Sandi and Summer went to their UK foster home in the Worcester area after being vet checked in Ireland. Both dogs needed extensive grooming due to severe neglect of their badly matted coats. Ideally, both dogs would like to find the perfect home together as this would benefit both of them tremendously. They have known each other since they were puppies and rely on each other so much.

Sandi is by far the more out-going of the two and is quite inquisitive, however she doesn’t venture anywhere where she is not allowed. She is still apprehensive as to what is allowed and what is not. She does have a happy-go-lucky nature and likes to explore once she has finally built up the courage to go indoors.

Summer is by far the more timid of the two and needs a lot of reassurance from Sandi. She hides behind Sandi when she has to confront new experiences. She is not confident but this I feel would subside given the right circumstances with plenty of love and attention. Treats seem to help overcome any apprehension she experiences.

Both Sandi and Summer have a very healthy appetite which is probably why they are so heavy at present, with Summer being slightly lighter than Sandi. Sandi will use her size to push Summer out of the way for treats, but during normal feeding times they quite happily stick to their own food bowls.

Sandi and Summer are house-trained and are quiet during the night. There have been no accidents so far. They walk to heel (after an initial few minutes) and are a joy to walk and keep more or less to themselves when meeting dogs outside. An initial ‘off the lead walk’ was a great success and Sandi never strayed more than a few metres.

Sandi, like Summer, is a fantastic family dog who is very sociable with both people and other dogs. They are also very good around young children and crave attention. Both Sandi and Summer need to lose weight and will then require careful weight control, but the need for this should reduce with regular exercise and a healthy balanced diet.

SANDI AND SUMMER HAVE GONE TO THEIR FOREVER HOME TOGETHER:

Sandi and Summer’s fosterer is pleased to report that Sandi and Summer have been successfully rehomed together. Simon said “They are going to live in Suffolk with a lovely lady who will spoil them rotten!! 🙂 We are really pleased and hope that Winnie keeps in touch. Although, as with all our foster dogs we are sorry to see them go but they couldn’t have gone to a better home”
