A TRAGIC PASSING FOR THEIR LOVELY LADY (MAY 2018)

Yvonne and Chris are totally numbed by the sudden passing of their beloved Sandy on Thursday 24th May.

Although she had been a huge part of their family for five years and must have been, at least, 13yrs old, they had no inkling she was poorly so it was a massive shock when she took herself out into the garden and passed peacefully away.

At the moment, they are way too upset to say any more which is totally understandable but our hearts do go out to them at this very sad time.

HISTORY

Sandy, a spayed female, was 8 years when she came into IRR care.

She was surrendered to IRR along with her son, of whom she was very protective. She is reported to have strongly defended him from another dog whilst in kennels awaiting transport to the UK.

IN FOSTER

She was fostered in Essex. Her assessment was:-

Personality

Sandy is a beautiful, gentle dog who is very eager to please. She has the sweetest nature with people and is a dream in her foster home.

Social Learning

She is housetrained, and, while she is quite food motivated, she is gentle taking food from your hand when you remind her.

Sandy is proving very easy to train and already knows her basic commands.

She is quite happy being groomed, and loves her walks. She is nervous when there are other dogs around and we recommend that her new owner continue the work of socialising her with other dogs in a controlled environment.

Behaviour with other animals: Sandy has lived with other dogs, but we feel she deserves to be the centre of attention and not be placed in a home with other dogs.

Sandy’s Dream Home

Sandy would love a home where she is the only dog, so that she can enjoy all the attention and share her big heart with some very special people. Her new owner should be ready to continue the fantastic work of her foster home with the additional training and socialisation.
