Sarah

SARAH’S HISTORY

Sarah is 3 years old, spayed and vaccinated. She was surrendered into the pound because her elderly owner couldn’t walk her.

Fosterer’s first report – Ireland: 12th October 2012

Sarah gets on well with other dogs and has a very gentle biddable nature. She travels well in the car, is house trained and was taught a lesson from a cat yesterday so has a healthy respect for them now.

Fosterer’s first report – UK: 16th October 2012

Sarah arrived on Saturday slept well.

Sarah has been clean in the house and starts to “wander around” when she needs to go out. She is good with other dogs and will play with any that are willing. I took her to see Rosie another IRR rescue and she played for about an hour. She has met two of the grandchildren aged 4 and 7 and was friendly and happy to play. She does tend to jump up and is quite strong so I am working on this.

On the lead she can walk nicely, but then she may decide that she has seen something of interest half a mile away and she just sets off,.. so I will be trying her with a halti in the next few days.

She travels well in the car and is happy to be left while you are in the shops. I haven’t tried to leave her alone in the house but she has been fine alone overnight and is happy to see you in the morning.

Sarah is a lovely looking girl and is very affectionate. She is not overweight and appears fit and healthy. She will need at least one good walk every day.

She will sit and lie down when told. She does counter surf so you need to be tidy!!

Sarah is a lovely natured dog with a determined character and would probably suit a home with older children and other dogs.

Fosterer’s second report – UK: 23rd October 2012

In just over a week Sarah seems much more settled. She’s trying very hard to make friends and play with my three dogs, but so far has had no takers. She has met and played well with friends’ dogs and although she can “play rough” she accepts being put in her place without any retaliation. We have just had a few days at the caravan which she really enjoyed. She is a lovely looking dog and loved all the fuss and attention from the people she met.

When we arrived home from the Lakes I was pleasantly surprised with Sarah’s reaction to our cats. She just came through the door and more or less ignored them.

She is still great with children of all ages but does tend to jump up if allowed, so would be better suited to older children.

Sarah certainly knows her own mind and if on a walk she stops to look at the ducks then she will not move until she decides the time is right. She just digs her feet in and refuses to move! She also needs some lead training, although I have seen some improvements this week using a “no pull harness”.

Sarah is a very affectionate girl who loves to curl up next to you on the sofa and have a cuddle. She also loves her walks, other dogs and of course her food. She would suit an active family home who would be willing to continue her training.
